Position Title: On Common Ground (OCG) Student Assistant
Supervisor's Title: OCG Shift Leader

Average hours per week: Up to 10 hours per week
Job Purpose:
Assist in daily production and services, following established production guidelines in food preparation. Assist manager as needed.
Skills Development and Learning Opportunities Available:
As Student Assistant the individual will learn a variety of business skills. One of the most important parts of our operation is customer service. Student Assistants are in direct contact with the customers on a daily basis. Student Assistants learn to prepare menu items in accordance with recipes. If desired, Student Assistants can work their way up to one of the student-supervisor positions. It is our goal to enhance the business skill of our student employees while emphasizing the importance of teamwork and a good work ethic.
Essential Duties:
* Provides coverage during either the lunch or dinner shift throughout the week, which may include weekends
* Assists in the setup up and break down during the weekend shifts
* Preps food for the next shift as instructed by the supervisor
* Maintains proper sanitation standards
* Follows recipes in preparing menu items per ticket order
* Provides customer service, food preparation, and related functions that contribute to the effectiveness of the operation
* Oversees the operation for detection of common signs of shoplifting, security risks or safety hazards and takes prompt action to communicate potential problems to management or campus security
* Performs all the duties as requested by management

Educational Requirements:
* Current enrollment in the University of Lynchburg

Experience Requirements:
Some food service experience is desired but not necessary.
Special Oral/Written Skills:
* Basic English-language oral and written skills for understanding, interpreting, and completing assignments.
* Effective oral communication skills are necessary to provide courteous, responsive service.
