POSITION TITLE: Sprinkler TechnicianEXEMPTION STATUS: Non-exemptREPORTS TO: Grounds SupervisorTERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 12 monthsPrimary PurposeMaintain sprinkler systems and repair and install sprinkler equipment for district property.Qualifications:Education/CertificationHigh school diploma or GED, preferredValid Texas driver's licenseSpecial Knowledge/SkillsAbility to read and understand written instructionsEffective communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to operate tractor and landscaping equipmentAbility to operate power tools and the use of hand toolsExperienceOne year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience; with a clear driving recordMajor Responsibilities and Duties:Grounds Maintenance
  • Assemble, install, maintain and pressure test all pipes and fittings.
  • Join pipes by use of screws, bolts, fittings, solder, plastic solvent and caulks joints.
  • Bend pipe to required angle by use of pipe-bending machine or by placing pipe over block and bending by hand.
  • Fill pipe system with water or air and read pressure gauges to determine whether system is leaking.
  • Install irrigation of metal and PVC pipe for sprinkler systems.
  • Inspect area irrigated to ensure adequate soaking and prevent waste of water.
  • Analyze and resolve work problems or assist workers in solving work problems.
Safety
  • Inspect machines and equipment for safety and efficiency.
  • Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
  • Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties.
  • Correct unsafe conditions in work area and immediately report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor.
