Job Description :
TITLE: SHOP FOREMANREPORTS TO: SERVICE MANAGERPURPOSE OF THE POSITION:The mission of the Shop Foreman is to maximize the efficiency and profitability of the shop by acting as a link between management and technicians, relaying policy and providing feedback on technicians' needs and concerns. The Shop Foreman should excel in technical knowledge and be able to train, assist and supervise technicians.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist the Service Manager in hiring and terminating
  • Manage all technicians
  • Troubleshoot problem vehicles when
  • Road test with customers when needed to duplicate
  • Assist customers with any questions about their
  • Help Technicians' diagnoses of vehicles when
  • Enroll Technicians for training and check that training is complete and done in a timely manner.
  • Check repair orders in the morning and throughout the day for any recalls and gather enough information to duplicate customer concerns.
  • Complete labor operations and technician labor times on repair
  • Obtain authorization codes for warranty on repair orders and make sure correct parts are on the repair order.
  • Obtain authorization codes for APP work to be performed.
  • Complete comparisons for repair or replacement of engines and Get approval from General Motors Product Quality Control for replacement, if within the guidelines.
  • Have authorization from GM DVM for warranty repairs after the original warranty has expired, and the operation codes for the related repairs,
  • Be in charge of special tools and equipment, updates to special equipment and inventory. Order tools when needed.
  • Order shop
  • Track and write up internal repair orders; including used vehicles, D.I., DVA accessories, we owe items and detail repair orders.
  • Make sure used vehicles are inspected, repaired and detailed within a 72 hour
  • Help open and close the Service Department on a daily
  • Perform evaluations of shop
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions and
  • Dealership computer skills, e.: Reynolds & Reynolds, Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook Express.
  • Supervisory experience
  • Five years combined Parts, Service and Body Shop
  • Valid in-state drivers
  • Professional personal
  • Excellent communication
WORKING CONDIDONS:The Shop Manager will work at a desk which is enclosed in the Service Department. S/he will be exposed to noise, vibration, paint, dust, exhaust fumes, and other hazardous and non-hazardous materials, S/he will move about the service area to work with the service technicians. S/he will crawl under cars and get in and out of cars to inspect work completed.
