ClerkDate Posted: 7/24/2024Location: Village Elementary SchoolThis is a position that works 8 hours per day during the school year. Base hourly rate is $15.62 with additional compensation for past work-related experience and level of education. Purpose: The Health Office Assistant assists in the operation of medical or supportive services in the school system. To accomplish these tasks, the Health Office Assistant works closely with the staff and administration of USD 253. Responsible to: Principal (Supervised by school Nurse) Payment rate: According to Classified Salary Schedule Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to complete multiple tasks with accuracy.
  • Computer skills.
  • Desire to continue career improvement.
  • CPR and First Aid training.
  • CNA License Preferred
  • Health and Inoculation Certificate on file in the Central Office.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the board may find appropriate and acceptable.
  • Essential Functions:
  • Accurately dispense medication to students according to health plan and under direction of school nurse.
  • Assist in conducting student screenings.
  • Maintain accurate paper and electronic records.
  • Respect the confidentiality of records and information regarding students, parents, and teachers in accordance with accepted professional ethics, and state and federal laws.
  • Assist professional nursing staff with daily or routine services.
  • Appropriately operate all equipment and machinery related to specific job duties.
  • Communicate effectively with all members of the school district and community.
  • Work effectively with community organizations.
  • React to change productively and handle other tasks as assigned.
  • Support the value of an education.
  • Support the vision and mission of USD 253.
  • Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:
  • Requires prolonged sitting or standing.
  • Occasionally requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials.

  • Requires climbing and balancing.
  • Must work indoors and outdoors year-round.
  • Must work in noisy and crowded environments.
  • General Responsibilities:
  • Order, inventory, store and maintain materials and supplies for use by school nurse.
  • Prepare and distribute written information created by the school nurse.
  • Provide clerical support to school nurse.
  • Perform specific student health related tasks as directed.
  • Serve as a contact and resource for parents and staff regarding health issues.
  • Perform general clerical tasks.
  • Set up displays and equipment.
  • Keep accurate and current records regarding students.
  • Respect the confidentiality of records and information regarding students, parents, and teachers in accordance with accepted professional ethics, and state and federal laws.
  • Demonstrate effective interpersonal relationships with students, teachers, parents, staff, community agencies and other groups.
  • Attend staff meetings and serve on staff committees are required.
  • Supervise children in all appropriate settings.
  • Support and facilitate the mission and vision of the Emporia Public Schools.

  • Purpose: The Office Aide provides clerical support to assist with the efficient operation of the school. To accomplish these tasks, the Office Aide works closely with the staff and administration of USD 253.   • Prepare and file required reports
  • Stay abreast of new technologies to facilitate and support data management and communication.
  • Be prepared to implement the Building Crisis Plan; actively participate in response drills.
  • Uphold / enforce board policy, administrative procedures, and school rules/regulations including but not limited to:
    • Acceptable use of technology
    • Sexual and racial harassment
    • Child abuse reporting
    • Health and safety including all precautions of the Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan
