The Site

Point Walter Golf Course is nestled alongside Perth's Swan River in Bicton with sweeping views and spectacular scenery. This 9-hole golf course is highly regarded for its quality fairways, greens and picturesque landscape.

Our golf facilities include a 9 hole golf course, 18-hole mini golf, pro shop, practice fairway tennis courts, bar, café and function room.

The RoleWith the continued growth in business, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified and experienced Chef to deliver an exceptional modern food menu to public, players, families and functions at the Point Walter Golf Course.

We are looking for an all-rounder who is customer-focused, adaptable to our diverse range of clientele (Mon - Sun) and committed to driving sales. Ability to lead our café team through large (predominantly cocktail-style) functions, to engage our regular customers and work across other areas (barista and bar work) is desirable.

Key Accountabilities

  • Maintains a clean sanitised operation + food safety program
  • Coordinates the ordering, holding, preparation and storage of food stock in dry, fresh, refrigerated and frozen spaces
  • Prepares food to standard recipe and portion controls that meet the company standards
  • Ensures wastage of all product and utilities is minimised at all times
  • Coordinates the use and maintenance of all equipment to regulatory standards
  • Ensures all stock levels are appropriately maintained to meet the level of forecasted operations
  • Creates specialty dishes from time to time, by utilising slow moving stocks or excess items
  • Assists Management with groups, larger bookings. communicates with 3rd party contractor caterers to use facilities, if and when the operations are unable to deliver such an event
  • Attends internal meetings and client site visits where necessary

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Energetic and passionate about our goals for The Grass Lands
  • A minimum 3 years' experience working in a similar hospitality facility
  • Completed traineeship as qualified cook
  • Highly developed communication skills both up and down the line
  • Experience in large group catering up to 120pax
  • Sound knowledge of kitchen health and safety legislation
  • National Police Check
  • Working with Children Check
  • Current CPR Certificate
  • Current First Aid Certificate (Level 2)

Desirable:

  • Worked in an environment of being in charge and responsible for outcomes
  • Worked in fast paced environment
  • Ability to apply oneself during slower periods and contribute across other departments within the facility (for efficiency)
  • Worked for a larger multi venue, multi-state company
