Your role at Clorox:

Primary Purpose of Position:

Provide leadership and support for the site's safety program. Lead the development, promotion, and compliance of safety policies, procedures, and processes designed to identity hazards and asses and mitigate risk. Drive and support plant safety. This individual will work in a self-managed environment as lead for the site Safety program. This individual will work closely with Plant Leadership and Clorox Corporate Safety. They should be a leader who is proactive, passionate, professional, and competent. This individual must support the team-based environment, ensuring compliance with and contributing to safety guidelines/practices at the plant.

In this role, you will:

Leadership

  • A respected leader, capable of maintaining plant culture as a culture of “Safety as a Core value”

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills – ability to relate to others in a way that supports mutual respect and learning

  • Functions as a role model in demonstrating a commitment to safety behaviors, identifying and correcting unsafe behaviors and conditions within the plant and contributing to safety programs/activities.

  • Understands and demonstrates adherence to the plant safety rules, practices, & processes.

  • Understands and works to support team-based environment, identifies safety needs and participates in training to improve team capability, contributing in meetings, communicating effectively with other employees. Communicates more through “coaching” versus “directing”.

  • Willingness to establish good working relationship with all levels of workforce

Plant Safety SME (Subject Matter Expert)

  • Conducts frequent safety, health, and environmental walk-through inspections of all workplace facilities.

  • Capable of designing safety maps, JSA's, LOTO procedures and explaining them and be the SME for safety maps, JSA's, LOTO and all safety related matters.

  • Ability to read & understand OSHA rules and regulations and re-convey concepts into standard Clorox HS&E document formats.

  • Leads the development, implementation & updating of required written safety programs that are effective and actionable for reducing risks, hazards, & incidents.

  • Establish and maintain a relationship with Clorox Corporate Safety resource contact(s).

Safety Team(s)

  • Lead Safety Team - Support recruiting and development of Safety team that engages the workforce and proactively reduce potential accidents and safety risk. Organize and lead regular team meetings. Identify team priorities and action items for safety team members

  • Special safety teams - Identify the need for special safety team(s), address identified safety improvements and potential hazards. Recruit key participants, communicate objective of team. Provide support and follow up as needed.

Safety Training

  • Ensure quarterly safety training & all other specifically required training is provided and completed for all employees.

  • Partner with leaders & employees in the organization to determine current & future safety knowledge and skill requirements based on departmental goals & objectives. Provide and/or monitor required Safety training for all new hires, develop material and facilitate as needed.

Incident Investigation

  • Lead incident investigations and track completion of resulting corrective actions.

  • Lead & monitor a process for reporting & investigating “near-miss” situations.

  • Demonstrate understanding of appropriate timing for a Safety investigation to be turned over to Human Resources for further investigation.

Safety Matrix

  • Responsible for oversight and adherence to the Intelex safety reporting system for all incidents, audits, observations, and corrective action plans. Compile, analyze, interpret & report accidents and loss and prepare comprehensive recommendations for corrective action to eliminate or mitigate future risks.

  • Maintain Safety Improvement Plan and ensure that Safety metrics and Safety improvement plan is current. This individual should be able to discuss the material on the Safety plan and link it to the Leadership and other Pillar Plans as appropriate.

Presentation Skills

  • Demonstrates the willingness and ability to make clear, coherent, and meaningful presentations to a variety of audiences using the most recent technical presentation aids e.g. PowerPoint, etc.

Computer Skills

  • Proficient in Excel, Word and PowerPoint

  • Demonstrates ability to use appropriate software and data entry systems.

  • Ability to navigate, upload and manage revisions to plant website and SharePoint.

General

  • Detail-oriented, yet understand the bigger picture of safety in supporting overall business results

  • Ability to be flexible with business needs and work independently

  • Ability to be on call for any Safety related issues in the Plant

  • Ability to travel as needed to support Site Safety

  • Performs other miscellaneous administrative and leadership duties as needed and required

What we look for:

Minimum Years and Type of Experience Required:

  • Minimum of 2 years related or manufacturing experience.

Preferred Skills and Abilities: Educational/Experiential Requirement s:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience or Associate degree

Required Skills and Abilities :

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong planning, organizing, and adaptation skills

  • Good Time management skills

  • Proven ability to multi-task

  • Proven track record of completion of tasks

  • Detail oriented

  • Self-driven

  • Expertise in MS Office. Must be literate in MS Word and Excel.
