Evening and weekend hours may be required.Veteran Preference Statement: South Carolina is making our Veterans a priority for employment in state agencies and institutions.Job ResponsibilitiesUnder general supervision of the Director of Admissions and Recruitment, the Enrollment Counselor (Recruiter) is responsible for recruitment, data input and management, and providing counsel to potential students. Establishes and administers programs for targeting, recruitment, and retention of students at Denmark Technical College.
  • Leads activities related to establishing quality relationships with territory high schools. Visits middle schools, high schools, and colleges, speaks to groups and individual students, meets with school counselors to promote outreach activities; coordinates community workshops and retreats; arranges visits from prospective students and parents.
  • Leads with recruitment and establishing strong relationships with local high school counselors and principals.
  • Provides career and academic counseling, planning, and advising to potential students; assists students in the development of testing strategies, writing skills, and completion of applications through seminars and workshops; coordinates applications for financial assistance.
  • Participates in the development of student recruitment and retention plans, strategies, and written materials. Serves as a liaison to develop partnerships between the college and local school systems throughout the state. Creates a database of prospective and current students and/or potential degree candidates in the state.
  • Prepares reports and proposals, and responds to inquiries from students and minority agencies.
  • Develops operating goals and objectives for the unit; implements and administers methods and procedures to enhance operations, as appropriate to the unit.
Minimum and Additional RequirementsBachelor's degreePreferred QualificationsAbility to develop and deliver presentations; communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; gather data, compile information, and prepare reports; develop, plan, and implement short- and long-range goals; analyze course prerequisites, certification, and/or curriculum/graduation requirements; Organizing and coordinating; work effectively with diverse populations. Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures. Knowledge of student recruitment and retention; Skill in the configuration and use of computerized database programsAdditional Comments Valid driver's license required. Frequent travel is required. Weekend travel is required. During peak seasons employees will be expected to work earlier or later hours as needed.
