We steward precious resources by finding more sustainable solutions.Job SummaryOur Construction Management team is seeking a Construction Inspector to be assigned on a single or multiple project(s) that will require night work. The Construction Inspector may work as a member of a team or alone but is expected to be able make independent decisions requiring technical discretion and judgment in accordance with all regulatory agencies having jurisdiction. Successful candidates will have experience in traditional Urban Rail Transit Project(s) working for Agencies such as NYCT, MTA, LIRR, NJT, Amtrak,etc.Responsibilities & QualificationsResponsibilities:
  • Secure working limits in accordance with Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) rules for roadway worker protection.
  • Respond to any Maintenance of Way failures.
  • Perform all necessary track/signal inspections and tests.
  • Oversee the performance of railroad contractors performing maintenance-of-way activities, including review and approval of associated invoices.
  • Provide documentation of FRA Compliant Records for signal and track system.
  • Provide monthly progress reports to the Senior Project Manager.
  • Currently compliant with FRA and CSX Transportation (CSXT) operating rules and standards.
  • Familiarity with dispatch operations of CSXT and NYCT Regional Transportation Authority Operations.
  • Knowledge of physical characteristics of the existing railroad.
  • Other duties as directed.
Qualifications:
  • Qualifications require a minimum of at least 3+ years of track inspections.
  • Experience in rail and transit agencies such as MTA, LIRR, NJT and Amtrak,
  • Candidates should have excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • OSHA 30-hour safety course certification preferred.

Additional InformationAs a condition of employment, applicants for any safety-sensitive positions covered under 49 CFR Part 219 must also complete and pass both pre-employment and other screenings in accordance with the law. TYLin is committed to pay equity. As part of that commitment, we have provided the base compensation range of $117,300 - $150,900 annually for this position and local market.
