DescriptionCAMS Midstream is hiring a Pipeline Technician to support all pipeline operating functions including the O&M of pipeline facilities, basic instrumentation and controls, pigging activity, meter station, and valve settings in accordance with company policies/procedures and in compliance with all regulatory agencies. Responsible for the operations, maintenance and regulatory compliance of pipeline facilities, basic instrumentation and controls in the greater Shreveport, LA area. The asset is potentially comprised of several miles of varying pipeline sizes and associated facilities. The successful incumbent must be self-motivated, and a self-starter who is comfortable working alone as well as in a group environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Work safely
  • Review and complete JSA's for all pipeline activities involving other3rd parties.
  • Responsible for performing and uploading operator qualified O&M task on the pipeline & its facilities in accordance with company procedures & policies. These may include but are not limited to:
    • Safety inspections
    • Locating and marking the pipeline
    • Valve maintenance and inspections
    • Pipeline patrols
    • Corrosion mitigation systems and processes
    • ROW maintenance which may include applying herbicides, light mowing, and weed eating
    • Road crossing inspections
    • Signage and marker maintenance
    • Odorant system monitoring (if applicable)
  • Receiving, reviewing and marking One Calls as necessary.
  • Maintain pipeline equipment, this includes but not limited to basic measurement equipment, valve/meter stations, valves, etc.
  • Coordinate, supervise, and inspect, the maintenance or construction of minor pipeline projects performed by third-parties.
  • Maintain operations of natural gas pipelines, facilities and equipment to PHMSA standards.
  • Identify and respond to emergency situations which may include Abnormal Operating Conditions (AOCs), SRC (Safety-Related Conditions) and other incidents and provide short-term and permanent solutions, as well as input for follow-up reporting.
  • Maintain proper Operator Qualification status to perform job duties.
  • Maintain stakeholder relationships which may include landowners, excavators, and emergency contractors and their current contact list.
  • Maintain an attitude for improving the public's awareness around the pipeline and attending applicable liaison meetings.
  • Maintain vehicles, trailers, facilities and equipment, in a clean, orderly, and compliant status always.
  • Must be able to work in remote locations, often working alone.
  • Utilize computers and e-mail for internal and external communication, record keeping, on-line reporting, material and supply ordering, and filing/maintenance of various forms & records
  • Effectively use hand, power, and specialty tools and equipment, and computer and associated software applications.
  • Actively contribute provide and support administrative duties in addition to technical tasks; and other activities such as budgeting, planning, scheduling, problem solving, prioritization, performance management, and decision-making.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 4-6 years pipeline operations and maintenance experience.
  • Knowledgeable in operating and maintaining natural gas pipelines and facilities.
  • Fundamental knowledge of instrumentation and controls associated with gas pipeline operations.
  • Candidate must have a proven safe driving record and provide documentation of past traffic violations upon request, as well as maintain a valid driver's license
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screening and is subject to random DOT drug testing.
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required.
  • The employee will be required to live within 45 minutes or 30 miles of the greater Shreveport, LA area.
  • Subject to hazardous conditions including escaping gas, adverse weather conditions and temperatures, high-pressure gas, and occasional heavy lifting.
  • Incumbent is subject to call outs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and extended workdays and/or workweeks when not on PTO.
