Summary of Job Purpose:
To perform and deliver patient care activities and related non-professional services for assigned hospital patients as directed by registered professional nurses or licensed practical nurses. Population served based on scope of services in the department.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
* Provides daily physical and emotional care to patients; i.e. bathing, toileting, feeding, ambulating, etc.
* Answers call lights in timely fashion
* Assists licensed personnel as directed.
* Accuracy in obtaining vs., ht, wt, i/o, and other procedures as per competency.
* Maintains a safe and clean environment, utilizing appropriate infection control techniques. (patient room, utility room, unit)
* Recognizes when to seek help from licensed personnel, i.e., .changes in patient condition
* Transports patients as needed.
* Provides input to the interdisciplinary health care team.
* Acts as a preceptor to all new Nurse Assistants and orientee Nurse Assistants.
* Demonstrates use of appropriate body mechanics.
* Displays analytical and basic problem solving skills. Communicates problems to manager as appropriate.
* Follows all time and attendance policies.
* Attends educational programs provided by the Hospital or those which are outside the Hospital that are related to job responsibilities.
Essential Job Qualifications:
Education: High School graduate or equivalency
Experience: Nursing home or acute care experience preferred
Training: BLS within 30 days of hire
