POSITION SUMMARY:
The ADON / Quality Assurance Manager will assist the DON in the overall management of nursing department services. Assists the DON in providing nursing services including but not limited to development, implementation and ongoing monitoring of all major nursing programs. Supervises and coordinates activities of nursing personnel in the facility. Participates in planning work of assigned units and coordinates activities with other patient care units and related departments. Ensures that patients' needs are met and evaluates nursing care and performance in accordance with physician orders and plan of care under the direction and supervision of the Director of Nursing and applicable federal and state guidelines and established policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Assist the DON in assuring that consistent and ongoing audits of nursing programs and nursing staff performance are completed.
Assist the DON in implementing, monitoring, and evaluating all nursing programs.
Make recommendations to the Administrator and DON to maintain and improve standards of care.
Perform rounds/guardian angel upon entering the building to identify general nursing care issues.
Participate in the Quality Improvement Process and assist the DON with developing internal plans of correction for problem areas.
Participates in staff meetings as assigned by the DON.
Maintains all required CEU and other continuing education needs to maintain required licensures and certifications.
Collaborate with Scheduler to Manage staff call offs and replacement staffing/ Assure proper staffing of the nursing departments via the hiring process in accordance with established staffing budgets.
Determine and delegate work assignments to assure that the facility nursing services maintain all state, federal, and local regulations.
Participates in staff orientation and preceptor training
Participates in and presents inservice programs.
Supervision and coaching of nursing staff.
Is available for oncall duty nights, weekends and holidays, as assigned.
Make focused and random rounds as assigned by the DON and/or Administrator.
Review/Audit facility clinical records
Assist facility in implementation of plans of correction.
Ensure that crash cart is appropriately stocked and in good repair.
Ensure the resident/employee environment is as free from accidents and hazards as is possible.
Assist the DON in ensuring the nursing personnel performance evaluations and yearly ongoing educational requirements are completed.
Ensure compliance with infection control standards. Immediately correct /address identified instances of noncompliance.
Ensure that all elements of the Abuse/Neglect Policies are maintained and enforced.
Perform duties in a safe manner in accordance with established policies and procedures
Ensure that staff adhere to the Resident Handling Protocol
Actively participate in fire, safety, and disaster preparedness drills
Maintain safe working conditions and practices and follow established safety regulations in the use of equipment and supplies
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing
Must possess a current and unencumbered Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse license in the state facility resides
