Job Title: MRI Technologist Job Specialty: Radiology Job Duration: 9 months Shift: Saturdays/Sundays 12pm-8pm Guaranteed Hours: 15.00 hours per week Experience: Not specified License: - New York State License (L.R.T.)- NY State IV Certification Certifications: - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (MRI certified)- BLS certification Must-Have: - MRI ARRT Certification- Proficiency in English (Read, Write, Speak) Job Description: - Demonstrate the ability to perform clinical, technical, service, and administrative tasks.- Perform MRI imaging procedures and operate/prepares specialized equipment for magnetic imaging.- Assist, prepare, and position patients for MRI procedures, applying necessary technical judgment to obtain diagnostic-quality studies.- Provide patient education relevant to specific imaging procedures, including the nature of the procedure and specific instructions.- Review patient safety questionnaires and follow MRI safety precautions before scanning patients.- Ensure patients are cleared before transition from zone 2 to 3.- Assist in administering opaque media and/or loading power injector under aseptic technique.- Position patients and associated coils to obtain optimum study results.- Scan patient-related documents and ensure all images are appropriately labeled.- Assist physicians directly as required.- Evaluate radiographs for technical acceptability and transmit images to PACS in a timely manner.- Maintain cleanliness of radiology room and equipment, including removing soiled linen at the start and end of the shift.- Maintain necessary supplies and accessories in the imaging room for safe duty performance.- Accurately record patient tracking information in IDX (Radiology Information System).- Schedule exams and ensure all studies performed are completed in IDX in a timely fashion.- Inform supervisor or appropriate personnel of needed repairs to equipment or unsafe conditions.- Adhere to infection control policies and protocol to prevent infection spread.- Attend in-services and other professional development meetings as required.- Maintain licensure specific to the job, including adherence to Article 35 of the Public Health Code. Education Requirements: - Graduate of an AMA/J.C.E.R.T. approved program in Radiologic Technology.
