Join our team as a Nursing Assistant Student and embark on a rewarding journey to prepare to sit and test to become a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). Our program offers hands-on experience, mentorship, and a supportive environment to help you succeed. Courses are available through Oregon Care Institute (OCI). As a Nursing Assistant Student you will:
  • Learn knowledge and skills to provide compassionate care
  • Participate in a dynamic course which meets Oregon State Board of Nursing requirements
  • Work alongside healthcare professionals, gaining the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in patient care
  • Collaborate with your fellow students in direct learning experiences in a lab, classroom and clinical settings
  • Prepare to take OSBN (Oregon State Board of Nursing) Certification exam
Classroom portion is a total of 10 days (4 days per week) and the Clinical portion is a total of 5 days. In addition to classroom and clinical hours, we include 2 certification testing preparation days and an opportunity to test at the institute.   • Describe the health care team andthe roles of the nurse assistant
  • Identify the scope of practice forthe nurse assistant, including ethical and legal responsibilities to thepatient/resident
  • Provide quality and safe nurseassistant care in performance of procedure skills for the patient/resident
  • Apply knowledge and skills whencaring for a patient/resident with acute, chronic, or terminal health careneeds
  • Demonstrate assisting withrehabilitation and restorative nursing care to the adult and older adult
CourseDescription The Nursing Assistant I course of OregonCare Institute (OCI) is designed to prepare qualified nurse assistants whoprovide patient care as members of a health care team in hospitals, extendedcare facilities, community agencies and home health care agencies. Students are not employees, however, upon successful course completion, employment opportunities are available with one of our Sapphire locations upon successful completion of Nursing Assistant (NA) course. Enjoy a substantial wage increase once you successfully pass the Oregon state board exam and become a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). Now, more than ever we are seeing growth in the healthcare field. We want to help you break into your future career! Once an NA you will interact with residents daily, offering support with Activities of Daily Living, collaborate with co-workers who share the same values and interests in the Healthcare field and learn about opportunities for professional growth. Sapphire Health Services offers tuition reimbursement for Healthcare Professional Courses including nursing school after 1-year of successful employment. Nursing Assistant (NA) Responsibilities:
  • Provide residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
  • Maintain resident confidentiality
  • Be an integral part of the team caring for Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation residents
  • As a Nursing Assistant (NA) with Sapphire you will foster a supportive, compassionate environment for our residents and their families
  • Support residents with mobility and transfers, ensuring their comfort and safety
  • Aid with feeding and ensuring residents receive proper nutrition
  • Learn to measure and record vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature, and pulse
  • Observe and report any changes in resident health status to supervising nurses
  • Provide emotional support and companionship to residents
  • As a Nursing Assistant (NA) you will engage resident activities to enhance their physical and emotional well-being
  • Gain hands-on experience with basic clinical procedures under the supervision of licensed nurses
  • Practice infection control protocols and safety procedures
  • Assist with maintaining accurate patient records
  • Communicate effectively with residents, families, and healthcare team members
  • Other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a face paced environment
  • Willingness to learn and take direction from experienced staff
  • Language proficiency: Must be proficient in English to effectively communicate with residents and healthcare team members. Oregon State Board of Nursing certification test is only offered in the English language at a 6th grade level
