Job Title: Registered Nurse Behavioral Health Location: Ithaca, NY Unit: Behavioral Services Unit Shift: Night 3 shifts of 12 hours per week Contract Duration: 13 weeks Job Description:
  • As a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Behavioral Services Unit will provide specialized care for patients dealing with various mental health conditions. This role involves close collaboration with the healthcare team to assess, plan, and implement care strategies tailored to each patient's unique psychological and physical needs.
Responsibilities:
  • Conduct patient assessments, focusing on mental health status, behavior, and risk factors.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans to address both mental and physical health needs.
  • Administer medications and monitor their effects, ensuring patient safety and adherence to prescribed therapies.
  • Provide therapeutic interventions to support emotional well-being and manage symptoms.
  • Monitor patient behavior and progress, making adjustments to care plans as needed.
  • Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and coping strategies.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including psychiatrists, social workers, and therapists, to deliver comprehensive care.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in electronic medical records (EMR) regarding patient care, treatments, and progress.
Requirements:Education:
  • Active RN licensure in the state of New York.
Experience:
  • At least 1-2 years of experience in a behavioral health or psychiatric setting is preferred.
Certifications:
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required. Certification in Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing (PMHN) is preferred.
