Job Title: CNA (Nurse Aide) Job Specialty: Sub Acute Care - LTAC (Long Term Acute Care) Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour nights, 7:00 p.m. - 7:00 a.m., every other weekend, first to float Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS Must-Have: - Experience with acute care or SNF - Ventilator and tracheostomy experience - Ability to perform suctioning - Experience with G-tubes and tube feedings Job Description: - 72-bed sub acute care unit attached to a hospital - Nursing ratios of 1 nurse to 7 or 8 patients, with additional support from LVNs - Utilize Cerner EMR system - Charge nurse is an RN who does not take patient assignments - One nurse aide per 6 patients - Weekend requirement: every other weekend - Holiday requirement: one major and one minor holiday - Navy scrubs required - The unit deals with chronic ventilator, tracheostomy, and totally dependent patients, as well as stroke patients - Fast-paced and demanding environment - No hospitalist or intensivist in-house; primary and pulmonology care available - No dedicated IV team; ICU RN assistance available if needed - 24/7 respiratory therapy and pharmacy coverage - Possible floating for nurse aides to act as sitters - Floor-specific orientation: 6 shifts - Cancelation policy: Hospital may cancel up to 3 times per contract Ideal candidates would be those who can efficiently handle the challenging and dynamic environment, ensuring high-quality care for patients with significant medical needs.
