Salary: $17.56 - $18.63 HourlyLocation : Monroe, MIJob Type: Full-timeJob Number: 2024 - 00134Department: Financial AidOpening Date: 09/18/2024Position Summary The Financial Aid Assistant performs various clerical and financial tasks pertaining to the financial aid process. The Financial Aid Assistant provides customer service by answering phone and email inquiries, assisting with walk-in traffic, and meeting with appointments. The Assistant supports students and parents with the various financial aid programs, assists with the administration of financial aid programs, evaluates financial aid applications in order to determine student eligibility for various financial aid programs, collects data and keeps accurate records to process financial aid applications. Essential Job Functions1. Assists students, parents, faculty, staff, and outside agencies regarding financial aid programs and procedures. Including in-person, email and phone inquiries.2. Ensures student and parent awareness of the various financial aid sources during counseling sessions by providing information to them and answering their questions regarding financial aid sources. Maintains a high level of confidentiality.3. Collects and reviews required documentation to ensure student eligibility requirements are satisfied in accordance with federal and state regulations. Completes verification of student files, including accuracy, required signatures, and resolution of conflicting information. 4. Assists students in the application process for financial aid by helping them to complete appropriate and required forms; by explaining their rights and responsibilities concerning financial aid; by providing information about the status of their financial aid applications. Assists students on the use of the myWebPal financial aid module.5. Processes requests from students for re-evaluation of financial aid files based on changes in financial or family circumstances.6. Maintains knowledge of legislation and regulations governing federal and state financial aid programs, federal tax laws, and office policies and procedures.7. Assists the Director of Financial Aid in the administration of financial aid programs such as reviewing and awarding institutional and Foundation scholarships.8. Monitors Pell Grant lifetime eligibility limits, student loan usage, Exit Counseling, and other duties as assigned.9. Assists with reviewing / completing Satisfactory Academic Progress Appeal applications and sending correspondence to students regarding appeal outcome.10. Assists with planning and facilitating presentations by the Financial Aid Office to inform the public about the various financial aid programs and associated application processes.11. Responsible for the document imaging process in the Financial Aid Office.12. Assists in the preparation of required reports by collecting data and keeping accurate records on programs administered by the Financial Aid Office.13. Maintains competency through self-directed professional reading, attending professional development courses, and attending training and/or courses required by the Director of Financial Aid.14.   • Associate's degree.
  • One or more years of experience working in customer service/office environment; financial aid preferred.
  • Knowledge of federal and state financial aid regulations and procedures preferred.
  • Availability to work evenings and occasional weekends, during peak processing times.
