The primary purpose of this position is to provide services to clients in the Epidemiology Clinic as directed by the RN within the scope of practice.

Duties included but are not limited to:

* Deliver Directly Observed Therapy medications to patients undergoing treatment for tuberculosis.

* Assist with reports and maintain records as needed for various programs in the Epidemiology Clinic.

* Assist the clinic supervisors and program managers in preparing the contract addendum.

* Maintain a supply inventory.

* Maintain standing orders, policies and procedures.

* Obtain vital signs on patients.

Employee is subject to be called upon anytime to help the agency respond to a public health emergency which may include, but is not limited to, outbreak investigations, staffing mass dispensing or immunization clinics, providing disaster relief, or other incidents (man-made or natural and intentional or non-intentional) as they arise, or any public health response requested by the Health Director. High school or General Educational Development diploma, completion of a one-year formal training course in medical office assisting at a community college or technical institute; or High school or General Educational Development diploma and a combination of one year of clerical and health/dental related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Management Preference:

Current listing as a Nurse Aide II by the North Carolina Board of Nursing.

Degrees must be received from appropriately accredited universities.

Applicants who have obtained their education outside of the U.S. and its territories must have their academic degrees validated as equivalent to the degree conferred by a regionally accredited college or university in the U.S. The National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) is a referral resource for applicants who need to have their credentials certified as equivalent. * Thorough knowledge of skills needed as a medical office assistant as well as knowing procedure and medical terminology.

* Some knowledge of resources and organizations that work closely with public health.

* Good communication skills and clerical skills.

* Some knowledge of common health and safety precautions is necessary to function in clinic. Ability to maintain clerical records and to compile reports from these records.

* Ability to use sound judgement and empathy with clients.

* Must have the ability to follow both oral and written instructions.

* Employee must follow HIPAA guidelines and maintain confidentially.

* Some knowledge of the principles and practices of patient care and techniques of practical nursing.

* Ability to work with staff and patients, under supervision, as setup by the departmental policies.

Must have or obtain and maintain a valid North Carolina driver's license with an acceptable driving record. Background check and negative drug test are required.
