Job Description DRI is seeking to fill a full-time Custodian, located in Reno, NV, working under general supervision, to perform various custodial cleaning and maintenance services in the Reno facilities, including the following responsibilities:
  • Mopping, vacuuming, sweeping, trash pickup, cleaning, sanitizing and restocking restrooms
  • Performing scheduled floor maintenance tasks, such as cleaning carpets, and stripping, waxing and polishing tile and terrazzo floors
  • Maintaining janitorial equipment (to include making minor repairs) and keeping inventory and ordering supplies
  • Performing routine building maintenance and repairs to kitchen and restroom plumbing
  • Set up and arrange tables and chairs in conference rooms as requested by meeting coordinator
  • Maintaining building safety and security by ensuring that doors are securely locked at all appropriate times and conducting building sweeps at close of business
  • Respond to on-call phone for fire, security, and mechanical failures for the campus
  • Assist with the Institute's recycling program of paper, aluminum cans, plastics, cardboard, batteries, etc.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 1-year full-time experience performing custodial work
  • Basic mechanical skills
  • Basic computer skills with Microsoft Office Word and Outlook
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions, read/understand labels and mixing directions
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and safe work practices
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of personnel, including technical and academic staff
  • Proven success working within a team environment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Greater consideration will be given to those who possess one or more of the following skills:
  • Experience working in an institutional, commercial, or educational building setting.
  • Familiarity of LEED cleaning procedures.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
  • Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, such as lifting objects in excess of 50 lbs., climbing ladders and working at heights up to 30 ft.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver's license
  • This position is scheduled to work 9:30 am - 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
  • This position is required to be on-call (on a rotating basis) to respond to after-hours emergencies.
SALARY / BENEFITS This is a DRI Technologist position Grade 27 with a salary range of $45,935 - $66,919 (salary range effective 10/1/2024) and is commensurate with education and experience. DRI offers an excellent benefits package that includes health, dental, vision, and life insurance (flexible spending and health savings account options available), PERS 17.5% retirement match, 10 hours of annual leave and 10 hours of sick leave accrued per month, 12 paid holidays, and educational benefits. Additionally, there is no state income tax or social security deduction. This position is eligible for relocation assistance.
