- The facilities maintenance technician carries out skilled technical duties involving repair, maintenance, replacement, and troubleshooting to aid in smooth operations in school buildings.
Duties and Responsibilities
Provides maintenance support to the assigned schools by work orders from the principal or maintenance officeReplaces light bulbs and ballastsChanges filters on HVAC systems on routine scheduleChecks fire extinguishers on monthly basisChecks and cleans off roofs and guttersInstalls bulletin boards, dry erase boards, etc.Maintains bathroom fixtures and plumbingPerforms light carpentry, lock, electrical and plumbing repairsRepairs desks, chairs and other furniture and equipment as necessaryReplaces glass in windows and doors as neededPerforms minor repairs to school equipmentPerforms repairs to roofs, gutters and drainsPerforms small repairs to drywallReplaces floor tile(s)Checks and replaces belts on equipment as neededOils and greases pumps and motors as neededResponds to after hour emergencies as requestedProvides assistance to paint crew and carpentry crew during summer monthsPerforms related tasks as needed in all maintenance areasUnder sink grease trap maintenanceAssists with operation of sewer drain equipmentPerforms other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisorQualifications
- Graduation from High School or equivalent
- Carpentry experience preferred
- Experience in one or more of the trades common to building maintenance
- Valid North Carolina Driver's License
Physical RequirementsThe major physical and cognitive requirements listed below are applicable to this job classification within Person County Schools.Work in this classification is considered heavy physical work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects.
