The Office of Sponsored Programs and Research (OSPAR) seeks a Grants Manager who will provide services to all New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) campuses. Reporting to the Director for OSPAR, the Pre-Award Grants Manager is the administrator charged to ensure that grant proposals meet internal and external regulatory compliance requirements and that competitive proposals are submitted in an orderly fashion in accordance with sponsor guidelines. This position requires a well organized individual who can multi-task, is resourceful, and has excellent oral and written communication skills. A strong understanding of Research Administration isessential to a successful experience.

Responsibilities:
  • Advise and guide faculty/administrators seeking external grant funding through the complex process of proposal preparation and submission.
  • Serves as the OSPAR pre-award liaison for the College of Engineering and Computing Sciences (CoECS) and other schools as needed, federal sponsors, private foundations, NYS Higher Education Capital Matching Grant Program (HeCAP) and equipment acquisitions.
  • Will service other schools/colleges according to workload.
  • Works closely with the Director in the CoECS Dean's Office to coordinate grant submission support from the CoECS investigators.
  • Coordinate post-award activities for the College of Engineering and Computer Sciences through the OSPAR post-award team.
  • Monitors and disseminates funding opportunities to Principal Investigators/ Departments.
  • Provides direction, training and support to Principal Investigators and department staff in the development of proposals, strategic budgeting, interpretation of sponsor terms and policies, and University policies and procedures.
  • Edit, format, and assemble grant/contractual proposals, including administrative assurances, cover letters, abstracts, narratives, biographical sketches, budgets,budget justifications, current and pending support information, facilities descriptions, letters of commitment, and appendices.
  • Facilitate the internal review, approval, and submission (electronically/hard copy) of grant and contractual proposals.
  • Coordinate consortium arrangements including preparation, assembly, and submission of subcontract proposals and initial preparation of sub-award agreements.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong working partnerships and effective communications with faculty, Principal Investigators, sponsors, and other key stakeholders.
  • Analyze, understand, and interpret complex information from multiple sources including funding opportunity announcements, NSF PAPPG, NIH Policy Statement, SF424 (R&R), Uniform Guidance, matching requirements, and submission procedures to transmit proposals of competitive quality.
  • Monitoring and corresponding with OSPAR post award staff on grantexpenditures.
  • Keep continuously informed of laws, regulations, external and internal policies,and procedures governing the administration of grants and contracts.
Qualifications:
  • A bachelors degree and a minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience in sponsored research administration is required. Prior experience within an Institution of Higher Education or a research-related environment/institution is preferred.
  • Evidenced experience with federal, state, and private funding agencies (NIH/ NSF/ DOD/ NASA/ U.S. Department of Energy/ U.S. Department of Education/ DOJ/EPA/ NYS Department of Education/ NYC of Education/ NYS Higher Education Capital Matching Grant Programs.
  • Willing to engage with emerging AI platforms, Proficient with Microsoft Office, spreadsheets, databases, e-mail, Internet, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat Professional.
  • Experience working with web-based systems for electronic proposal submission and administration. (Including but not limited to Grants.Gov, ERA Common, research. Gov/ Proposal Central/ NSPIRES)
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and non-profit sponsor regulations and policies, including the Uniform Guidance, is required.
  • Ability to work effectively and with flexibility in the face of shifting deadlines/priorities.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently in a high pressure, deadline intensive office environment.
  • Ability to manage time, organize, and prioritize tasks in accordance with deadlines.
  • Exercise logic, discretion, professionalism, diplomacy, and good judgement

New York Tech considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate experience/expertise, education/training, key skills, geographic location, internal peer equity as well as market, organizational considerations and/or applicable collective bargaining agreement when extending an offer.

Minimum Salary:USD $70,000.00/Yr.Maximum Salary:USD $85,000.00/Yr.
