Job Description :
Under close supervision, provides technical support for physicians and nurses in the Emergency Room. Duties
  • Provides Emergency Room technical support for physicians and nurses to optimize patient care. Receives direction and assignments from RNs
  • Assists the RN in providing technical care of the patients by performing phlebotomy and IV starts, performing 12 lead EKGs, transporting patients to other departments, placing patients on cardiac and vital sign monitors, performing Point of Care Testing, performing wound care, inserting foley catheters and nasogastric tubes, obtains lab specimens and documents all care/procedures provided
  • Assists the Emergency Physician with technical support such as suturing simple lacerations after the credentialing process is completed
  • Assists the MD with physical exams, diagnostic and therapeutic procedures
  • Applies a variety of orthopedic splints and fits patients for crutches
  • Cleans equipment and workspace
  • Recognizes equipment malfunctions and refers for repair
  • Stocks Supplies
  • Trains and cross-trains other technical staff as required
  • Supports and executes the mission, ethics, and goals of the company effectively
    • Represents themselves in a positive and professional manner in the company and community
    • Adheres to dress code with a clean and neat professional appearance
    • Reports on time and as scheduled in order to complete work within the designated time
    • Adhere to all company policies and procedures outlined in the Employee Handbook, Employees Agreement, or communicated from the executive team
Requirements
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures common to the Emergency Department
  • Knowledge of Universal Precautions
  • Knowledge of basic anatomy and disease processes
  • Knowledge of applicable federal, state, tribal, and local regulations and requirements
  • Skill in oral and written communication
  • Skill in providing basic technical emergency care
  • Emergency Medical Technician Certification or related field
  • Two (2) years of experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to stand or walk for long periods of time
  • May occasionally be exposed to hazardous working conditions with infectious diseases
  • Must be able to life approximately 30 pounds
