- Plan and lay out work assignments, sets up and operates all types of machine shop tools in fabrication precision parts to blueprint specifications.
- Work under the limited supervision of the senior manufacturing staff.
- Set up and operate bench and machine tools including lathe, milling machine, drill press, grinder, etc., to produce precision parts, tools and fixtures from drawings, sketches, and operation sheets.
- Should have experience with manual and automated machinery such as CNC – Bridgeport and Haas Mini mill.
- Read and interpret complex blueprints, using shop mathematics.
- Work to extremely close tolerances using all types of machine shop tools and equipment.
- Determine types of machines and sequence of operations to be utilized in each operation.
- Select proper cutting tools for each operation and is responsible for grinding of such tools.
- Use a variety of precision measuring instruments to check work and obtain desired tolerances such as micrometers, vernier calipers and measurement scales.
- May act as lead person in assigning work and monitoring ongoing department operations in the absence of the Machine Shop Supervisor.
- Maintain a positive work environment by professional and courteous conduct and communications with others, including supervisors, co-workers, clients, and vendors.
Requirements
- High School diploma
- 5 years' experience in general machine shop work with a thorough knowledge of machine practice, tooling and set ups and properties of metals and plastics required
- Haas, Bridgeport CNC machinery experience
- Edgecam software highly desired
- Excellent communications skills, teamwork, and problem-solving skills
- Microsoft Office proficiency
- To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, the applicant must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S. (e.g. Green Card holder), or a protected individual as defined by the International Traffic in Arm Regulations (ITAR).
