Job Description

TCI is seeking a hard-working, efficient individual to join our team as a Service Porter. The Porter is a vital member of our Service team and is responsible for the day-to-day shop maintenance, tooling and equipment cleaning, and providing general assistance to technicians. This role will introduce you to the day-to-day operations of a high-volume truck dealership and demonstrate the importance of high-quality, dependable work to promote a safe, organized work environment.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Clean shop and campus grounds of dealership daily to maintain an orderly, safe work environment and debris-free grounds according to company policy.
  • Develop or maintain a scheduled maintenance checklist for routine tasks.
  • Sort recyclables, non-recyclables, scrap metal, and refuse and haul to appropriate disposal areas.
  • Monitor status of waste fluids and metal containers. Coordinate with proper vendors for disposal, when required.
  • Sweep, mop, and scrub flooring as well as clean storage shelves, workbenches, and horizontal surfaces.
  • Clean and maintain large shop equipment, including but not limited to flywheel machines, sandblasters, forklifts, shop presses, wheel lifts, and alignment machines.
  • Assist Service techs or other personnel as requested for safe and successful completion of their duties.
  • Deliver parts to bays, if requested, to help keep technicians working on critical jobs.
Qualifications

What We're Looking For:

  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check, physical, and drug screen.
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Driver's License and ability to meet insurance requirements is not required but is highly preferred
  • Fork truck certification and/or heavy equipment operating experience is a plus
  • Proven mechanical aptitude and dexterity with tools and shop equipment
  • Ability to operate cleaning equipment is essential
  • Knowledge of shop safety policies and basic hand tool operation
  • Ability to understand written directions and formulas to mix cleaning solutions and chemicals
  • Resourceful, collaborative team player who also thrives independently and can prioritize multiple projects with strong attention to detail in a fast-paced environment
