Nelson Truss Incis seeking to hire aTruss Assemblerto work in ourEdgerton Truss plant . This is afirst shiftposition,Monday through Friday from 6:00am - 2:30pm(6:00am - 3:30pm during our busy season).Job duties include:Assist in the construction and assembly of metal plated wood trusses using jig systems such as rolling gantry table and hand press systems.Lift and handle dimensional lumber of varying sizes and lengths.Climb on to jig systems to arrange material properly.Retrieve metal connector plates per shop drawings and place in proper locations for building trusses.Operate fork lift to move lumber carts, trash, etc.Mark trusses with tag numbers.Use metal strap banders to tie truss batches together.Re-stock plates, lumber carts, pallets, etc.Perform general area clean-up duties.Qualifications:A qualified applicant will have basic carpentry knowledgeAbility to read and follow engineered drawingsBasic understanding of lumber sizes/grades/typesAbility to use trade tools (such as saws, hammers, squares, tape measures, etc.)Basic understanding and use of arithmetic along with ability to use a calculatorAbility to work in a team environment.Forklift experience is beneficial, but not requiredPhysical Requirements:Applicants must be able to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.Nelson-Young Lumber is a family-owned and operated business, founded in 1913, with third and fourth generation family members actively involved in the business.
