Supportive housing - affordable housing paired with services designed to help people maintain their homes for the long-term - is widely recognized as a proven and cost-effective solution to chronic homelessness.But we didn't stop at providing housing. Breaking Ground's programs and services help people experiencing street homelessness - especially those who have been on the streets the longest - to come indoors. Through our Street to Home outreach program and transitional housing resources, we help people get, and stay, on the path to a permanent home.Reporting to the Assistant Director, Tenant and Aging Services, t he Tenant Services Coordinator oversees the operation of the Tenant Services Office. This department helps to provide safe, secure, and well managed permanent housing and contributes to Breaking Ground's overall mission of ending homelessness by working to build community and to engender tenant interactions with building staff. These goals are achieved through direct client contact, interaction with social services, and collaboration with outside organizations. The Tenant Services Coordinator coordinates program planning, organizes tenant participation in planned activities and workshops, and provides community outreach as needed. The Tenant Services Coordinator works closely with Building Management, Permanent Housing, and partner agencies .This position has a 35-hour work week. Hours are Monday- Friday, 9 .00 a m – 5 .00 p m , with some evening and weekend flexibility. This position may require travel between 2 building sites in the same borough.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Manage the Tenant Services calendar of events for assigned building sites, maximum of 2 building sitesOversee development and implementation of a wide range of programs and activities for residentsRecruit and manage tenant and external volunteer opportunitiesPerform administrative tasks as needed including monthly building newsletter production, monthly reports, etc.Manage program budgetCoordinate with Building Management, partner agencies , other Breaking Ground programs, and outside agenciesLiaise with tenants to address needs and concerns as neededAccompany tenants on off-site excursions or events arranged by Breaking GroundServe as tenant contact for questions and concerns; redirect tenants to appropriate staff ; keep social service and building management informed of tenant involvementPerform other duties as assignedMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Two years of satisfactory full-time work experience in Human Services or related field, or equivalent education and/or related work experienceExcellent writing, interpersonal, and organizational skillsAbility to multitask and shift easily between tasksAbility to work with diverse population, including persons with chronic mental illnessOutgoing and easily approachable nature preferredBachelor's Degree or equivalent experienceProficiency in using Microsoft Windows, particularly Word Excel, Publisher and AccessEOE/M/F/Vet/DisabledOther detailsPay Type HourlyMin Hiring Rate $19.23Max Hiring Rate $19.23Apply NowThe Domenech, 1505 St Marks Ave, Brooklyn, New York, United States of America
