The Sr. Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) performs a critical function in support of this goal and the ongoing evolution of our technology and platform strategy: responsib ility to ensur e the high performance, fault-tol erant behavior of our platform and the new capabilities being introduce d into th e mission critical, regulated business environment that it supports.While t his role is focused on hands-on implementation of new and evolving capabilities to observe and evaluate the service-level conformance of our platform, it is also one that is expected to innovate and evolve the related patterns and practices for the engineering organization. We are looking for people who want to shape the evolution of our platform and associated capabilities as we move into exciting new domains of technology and software engineering models.In addition to the above, some specific s uccess criteria in this role:Ensure s that all platform environment s have sufficient monitoring and observation to guarantee holistic awareness of system health and conformance of service-level objectivesImplement s software and systems to manage platform infrastructure and applications that provide transparency to stakeholders on platform statusIncreas es the predictability of system behaviors against quality goals from proposed changes, balancing performance with an eye toward pushing our capabilities forward, getting ahead of customer needs, and innovating for continual improvementFocus es on innovating solutions that increase clarity and operational efficiencies on supporting technical platform servicesShowcase s a proactive approach to identifying problems, performance bottlenecks, and areas for improvement before others know they existWhat you'll do...Work in conjunction with engineering stakeholders to define platform metrics and collection strategies that close gaps in visibility to the state of the platform and ability to scale against future objectivesRegular capture and analysis of platform metrics for prediction and discovery of performance and fault hotspotsPartner with delivery teams to validate behavior of services through release management activities to assure production behavior against quality goalsParticipate in system design consulting, platform management, and capacity planning for services and supporting technical assetsWork with stakeholders to ensure sustainable, operable platform systems and services through instrumentation and automationBalance feature development speed and reliability with well-defined service-level objectivesProvide primary operational support and engineering for platform observability and monitoring infrastructureAbout you ...Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in computer science or related discipline8+ years working with cloud-based hosting environments on one of the big 3 cloud providers (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and deep familiarity with common managed services5+ years working with various well-known monitoring and observability platforms (ex: Jaeger, Metrios, P romethe us, etc.) and common data/dashboarding capabilities (ex: Splunk, ELK)Ability to program (structured and OOP) using one or more high-level languages, such as Python or JavaScript/TypescriptExperience with dynamic resource management frameworks (Apache Mesos, Kubernetes) and use of containers (ex: Docker) & virtual system image models (ex: AWS AMI)About Progyny:Progynyis a transformative fertility, family building and women's health benefits solution, trusted by the nation's leading employers, health plans and benefits purchasers. There are a variety of factors that go into determining a salary range, including but not limited to external market benchmark data, geographic location, and years of experience sought/ required.
