  • Certification of good health signed by a licensed physician
  • Demonstrated aptitude for successful fulfillment of assigned performance responsibilities
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
  • IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Director of Buildings and Grounds JOB GOAL: To provide students with a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean and efficient place in which to learn, play, and develop. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Keeps building and premises, including sidewalks, parking areas, and play grounds neat and clean at all times (see attached cleaning programs)
  • Regulates heat, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, to provide temperatures appropriate to the season
  • Shovels snow, and/or salts walkways, entrances and stairs, as needed
  • Performs all cleaning duties as assigned by the Director of Buildings and Grounds, Building Administrators, Superintendent of Schools or Board of Education
  • Makes minor repairs as needed.
  • Report major repairs needed in a timely manner to the supervisor or principal
  • Maintains on a regular schedule all in room unit ventilators, to include oiling motors and fans, and changing filters at minimum two times a year or as needed
  • Reports immediately any damage to school property to the supervisor or principal
  • Remains on the school premises during school hours, and nonschool hours when the use of the building has been authorized and his/her attendance is required
  • Assumes responsibility for the opening and securing of the building each school day and for determining, before leaving, that all doors and windows are secured, and all lights are turned off
  • Keeps an inventory of supplies on hand and stocks supplies as needed in such a manner as not to hinder their custodial duties. Letting the supervisor know when supplies are running short so they can be ordered in a timely manner
  • Move furniture and equipment within or between buildings as required for various activities and as directed by the supervisor or principal
  • Complies with laws and procedures for the storage and disposal of trash, hazardous materials and asbestos
  • Cooperates with and works in a courteous manner with students, staff, teachers, administrators and the public
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Buildings and Grounds, Building Principals, Superintendent of Schools, or the Board of Education
  • Building checks and weekend activities ARE REQUIRED. You will be put on a rotation for weekend work and if you cannot work a weekend you are responsible for finding someone to work for you
  • Must be able to lift 40 pounds minimum.
  • CONTRACT LENGTH OR TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: Hours, work year, and salary to be established by the Board of Education EVALUATION OF PERFORMANCE: Performance of this job will be evaluated semi-annually by the Director of Buildings and Grounds and Administration.
