The Opportunity:
This is a great opportunity for a well-seasoned Service professional to take on a pivotal role in a dynamic, family-owned, and long successful boat and yacht dealer in the Pacific Northwest. They are seeking a candidate capable of driving efficiency in the shop, engaging and supporting customers in a professional manner, and someone to run point on developing and maintaining relationships with OEMs and suppliers, managing their parts inventory, and assisting with warranty claims. Duties and Responsibilities:
- Greet and assist customers by addressing their parts and service needs, explaining service options and parts timelines clearly, and provide estimates, gain authorization for repair actions, and maintain communication with them while their vessels are in the shop, and follow-up communications after they leave.
- Deescalate disgruntled customers as needed, ensuring the highest level of customer service at all times.
- Schedule service appointments, assign work orders to Technicians based on competencies and parts availability, and manage the workflow of the shop to improve efficiency and decrease service timelines.
- Identify and execute on opportunities for upselling of parts, services, and accessories.
- Oversee and manage the parts inventory, performing cycle counts, monitoring inventory levels, order, receive, and stock parts, and ensure their availability for service operations. Also establishing relationships with vendors and negotiating where applicable for the most equitable arrangement for the dealership.
- Maintain detailed service records, accurately tracking and filing invoices, and parts sales documentation.
- Edit, develop, and implement processes and procedures where applicable within service operations.
- Provide customers with technical assistance regarding parts and services where applicable, staying informed on developments in marine systems, parts compatibility, and new product offerings.
- Work closely with Technicians and other support staff to ensure seamless operations and clear and effective communication.
- Honest and regular reporting to upper management, proactively identifying issues and rectifying them, and set, monitor, and achieve KPIs/metrics for applicable departments.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment and adhere to all company and industry regulations.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in service operations in a Marine dealership service department or dedicated Marine service operation.
- Experience in 2 of the following capacities, in a Marine service department: Tech/Shop Foreman, Service Advisor/Writer, Parts, or Warranty. The more of these areas you have experience in, the better.
- Knowledge and experience with Yamaha Marine systems, parts, and components.
- Experience in developing, editing, and implementing processes and procedures, across multiple departments pertaining to Marine service operations.
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, the ability to remain on an even keel in the face of adversity or high stress situations, and the ability to engage customers with professionalism, and create solutions to problems for customers, and the dealership overall.
