PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:

Must safely set up and operate the machine to acquire quality product at the desired target speed of each run.

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Reviews job ticket instructions to determine printing specifications, machine set up procedures, and supplies needed

• Follows instructions issued advising the supervisor of any incorrect or non-recorded information necessary for proper set up and operation

• Set up machine adjusting and setting controls in consistent manner

• Start equipment and adjust machine as required to attain target speeds

• Responsible for the quality of product manufactured concerning correct viscosity, color, and shading, contrast, straining, and ink used

• Inspects printed board to verify accuracy and clarity of printing; analyze and correct production problems, using all of the enhanced tools available contacting the supervisor for assistance when necessary

• Ability to read and understand instructions on job ticket and accurately record information on production reports and/or computer

• Document and report all non-conforming product to supervisor, maintains accurate logs of productivity, maintenance, and downtime

• Adjust to and follow new procedures and innovations, which would add to the efficiency and safety of the operation

• Use available tools for quality in holding color (Running to the numbers)

• Must possess ability to train and mentor Second Press Operator and Press Feeder in job requirements and safety procedures

• Must possess professional appearance, mannerisms, positively interact, and represent the company to customers during press checks

• Troubleshoots, diagnoses, and assists in repair of machine malfunctions; performs routine cleaning, and maintenance

• Maintain a clean work environment including the machine, floors, desks, and fans in accordance with our 5S system

• Effectively utilize machine downtime (not including approved breaks) by assisting with set-up or performing tasks associated with the 5S system

• Occasionally will be asked to perform a different job, or be temporarily placed in a different department based on production needs

AUTHORITY: Must have the ability to lead a crew that has been placed with them to execute the demands of the printing operation efficiently and to respond to oral instructions from the supervisor and written instructions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Experience operating a large format press, preferably in a folding carton environment. High school diploma or (GED); or equivalent combination. Must have basic computer skills and ability to utilize software. Must have mechanical ability and skills.
