The San Joaquin County Office of the County Counsel is recruiting for a Chief Deputy County Counsel. This position will play a critical leadership role and is responsible for overseeing and directing the work of others on matters of litigation. The Chief Deputy County Counsel supports the County Counsel by providing difficult and complex legal services to the Board of Supervisors, County departments, and special districts, and represents them in County-related matters. The successful candidate will possess a strong working knowledge of civil and procedural law and must demonstrate the ability to be a collaborative and innovative problem solver.
Qualifications:
Membership in the California State Bar. Four years (five years preferred) in the practice of civil law, preferably with two years experience in a state, county, or city legal office. At least one year of experience supervising attorneys is desirable. Litigation experience is also desirable.
