Chemical Process Operator (Temporary) – 2 Positions

Location: Richmond, CA

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM

Duration: 12 month assignment (Potential to extend)

Pay: $22-$24/hr. DOE

We are seeking a motivated Chemical Process Operator to join our production team at our Richmond Chemical Plant. In this role, you will contribute to the manufacturing of chromatography resins, liquid buffers, monomer solutions, oils, and other life science products. You'll play a key role in operating, monitoring, troubleshooting, and controlling both batch and continuous chemical processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Chemical Process Operator (CPO) group and other departments to support business objectives.
  • Uphold a strong safety culture by following all safety protocols, identifying and reporting potential hazards, and ensuring chemicals are handled and disposed of per regulations. Adhere to all safety standards in chemical storage, SAP data entry, machine operation, and material disposal.
  • Execute assigned tasks according to standard operating procedures. Responsibilities may include weighing, measuring, mixing, monitoring, and adjusting chemical materials while operating large-scale reactors and equipment used in the production of life science research products.
  • Collect chemical solution samples and perform in-line product testing, addressing basic chemical issues to ensure product quality.
  • Maintain excellent documentation skills in compliance with local, federal, and company regulations. Stay up to date on policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety guidelines.
  • Perform equipment cleaning and batch preparation.
  • Communicate maintenance needs, and report inventory, planning, and quality issues to the appropriate departments.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. An associate degree in a chemical or biological field is preferred.
  • Chemical or biological production experience in a regulated environment is preferred. Familiarity with reactors, hazardous material regulations, and wastewater handling is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word, with experience in ERP systems like SAP being advantageous. Strong math and analytical skills, including the ability to convert units of measure and calculate ratios, are required.
