Position Type: CREC Early Childhood Education/Head Start Assistant Site SupervisorDate Posted: 1/13/2025Location: CREC Head Start SouthClosing Date: 02/10/2025 CAPITOL REGION EDUCATION COUNCIL POSITION DESCRIPTIONPosition Title: Assistant Site Supervisor Program: Head Start /Early Head Start Summary Description: The Assistant Site Supervisor is responsible for assisting with the management and operations of the Head Start/Early Head Start Center, staffing, and early childhood programming. In partnership with the Site Supervisor, The Assistant Site Supervisor will ensure compliance with all federal, state and local regulatory and legal regulations. In addition, The Assistant Site Supervisor will work as part of a team with Leadership and Management team. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develops and fosters relationships with families, staff and community providers.
  • Ensures a welcoming, safe and healthy environment for children and staff.
  • Assists the Director, Assistant Director and Education Manager in monitoring compliance, supporting instruction, training, counseling and evaluating staff.
  • Ensures the tracking of necessary data and provides reports as needed.
  • Assists administration in implementing practices and requirements to meet Head Start Performance standards and guidelines. Serves as the administrations voice in the center.
  • Assists in the implementation of seamless, integrated services for children and families by adhering to program specific work plans, policies and procedures.
  • Supervises Teachers, Teacher Assistants, Substitute Teachers and/or other assigned staff. Monitors and counsels educational staff and takes appropriate action to ensure compliance. Develops and follows up with Improvement Plans as necessary.
  • Assists with monitoring and coordinating staff schedules and arranges for coverage as required.
  • Assists with maintaining required staffing levels at all times.
  • Assists in Investigating all child and staff incidences, completing all forms and notifying appropriate authorities and chain of command.
  • Creates, fosters and maintains a positive culture and climate across the program and supports the mission and vision of CREC.
  • Assists with all activities and meetings at the designated center with staff, children, parents, and community members.
  • Provides leadership, professional development, and coaching to center employees. Conducts regular meetings and/or trainings with teaching staff and aides to monitor and evaluate assessments.
  • Assists with the development of school schedules and calendars.
  • Assists in the recruitment, coordination and placement of volunteers.
  • Assists in identifying needs related to the use of instructional technologies.
  • Provide assistance in writing required reports and completing various forms.
  • May be responsible for the program operations in the absence of the teacher.
  • Assists with teacher supply requests and monitors the use of supplies and materials, assists in maintaining inventory
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings and in training and professional development sessions.
  • Implements program in a manner consistent with CREC's mission, vision, code of ethical conduct, policies and procedures
  • Creates, fosters and maintains a positive culture and climate across the program and supports the mission and vision of CREC.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
  • Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field required, education may be substituted with relevant experience at the Program Director's discretion.
  • Experience working with children, birth through age five is essential. Knowledge of child development and services to infants, toddlers, and families required.
  • Experience successfully supervising teaching staff and implementing curriculum preferred.
  • Knowledge of Head Start, Child Care licensing, and/or NAEYC accreditation preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and Google suite and ability to quickly learn other software platforms.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Resourceful, creative, and excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to interact/communicate effectively with children, families, and staff at all levels from diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds; ability to create and maintain a positive culture and promote excellence in education.
  • Experience with Teaching Strategies Gold and Child Plus, preferred.
  • Ability to speak/understand Spanish a plus.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle required; local travel required.
  • Ability to maintain a flexible schedule, evenings and occasional weekend work may be required.
  • Red Cross and CPR Certification, preferred.
  • Working Conditions:
    • Must be able to handle the physical aspects of the position including the lifting of a child.
