WHAT DOES A MANAGER, RESOURCE DIRECTOR DO?

As the Manager, Resource Director at United Way for Southeastern Michigan, you will lead a dedicated team of resource directory staff, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary skills through comprehensive training programs. Your leadership will be vital in fostering effective teamwork management and enhancing relationship building within the community. You will take the initiative to create and present insightful reports to both internal and external stakeholders, showcasing the impact of our resource database on community support initiatives. This role not only allows you to apply your problem-solving abilities but also emphasizes the significance of innovation in driving our nonprofit mission forward. Your contribution will be instrumental in helping us meet our KPIs and elevate the overall effectiveness of our programs.

Knowledge and skills required for the position are:

  • Possess a solid understanding of and passion for United Way programs and initiatives
  • Have solid organizational, project management and leadership skills
  • Ability to set priorities, take initiative, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines
  • Possess framework for classification systems, etc.
  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint Skills
  • Excellent Presentation skills

Education and Required Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in social studies, human development, library sciences, or a related field. Certification as a Certified Resource Specialist (CRS) and/or Certified Information and Referral Specialist (CIRS) or 7-10 years of experience working with 2-1-1 and/or the related taxonomy system is preferred.
  • Familiarity with classification systems and/or data management systems.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience with resource management tools and quality improvement and exposure to a contact/information center environment or related experience, including 1-3 years of people management experience.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications and internet research tools.
