JOB SUMMARY: The Children's Corner Worker will care for children in before and after school care. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: other duties may be assigned - Assist in planning and implementation of academic, enrichment, health, and recreational extracurricular learning experiences for students
- Tutor students in academic subjects such as reading, writing, math, and other areas
- Work effectively with students in after school activities and assist with behavior management, discipline, and interpersonal skills
- Projects being a positive role model to students and colleagues by participating as a team member, engaging in productive problem-solving skills, and ensuring that positive and continuous communication with others is occurring
- Establishes a climate that promotes a firm, fair, and respectful environment by modeling and reinforcing positive behaviors
- Implements standards for student behavior in order to ensure a safe, secure, and effective learning environment by providing a high degree of structure, clear expectations, and consistency
- Ensure the environment maintains cleanliness and orderliness
- Ensure the rights of all students are observed and protected through the use of appropriate and respectful communication and proper de-escalation techniques
- Provide for the basic physical needs of students as needed (e.g. toileting and diapering, medication assistance, feeding assistance, hygiene assistance, etc.)
- Participate in staff training and professional development opportunities
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: - Knowledge and/or coursework in child development
- Positive attitude focused on student growth and development
- Ability to form positive relationships with students
- Excellent attendance and work habits
- Must be able to pass a background check with no criminal history
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: - High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience working with young learners preferred
