Job Announcement Position Information Position Title Director of Curriculum and Assessment Campus Cranford Department Curriculum, Accreditation and American Honors Administration Full-time, Part-time, Adjunct Full Time Exempt or Non-Exempt Exempt Regular,Temporary, or Grant Regular General Description Under the supervision of the Dean of Curriculum and Assessment, the Director provides support in the areas of curriculum, assessment, technology, and data analytics. The primary responsibilities of the Director are to manage the College's and state's curriculum development process, oversee the annual NJCCC Course Inventory Review, facilitate curriculum and assessment workshops, coordinate the annual review of the College catalog, oversee and implement the College's academic and non-academic outcomes assessment, and analyze data for master schedule and enrollment management. The Director will also support the Dean on department and College initiatives related to teaching and learning and student success. Characteristics, Duties, and Responsibilities Serves as a liaison between Academic Divisions, Curriculum Committee, and Dean of Curriculum and Assessment for development and revision of curriculum in accordance with state guidelines. Serves as Chair of Institutional Assessment Committee and a member of the Curriculum Committee, Learning Outcomes Assessment Sub-Committee, and Non-Academic Assessment Committee. Implements annual College catalog review process by collaborating with college constituents across all divisions to ensure accuracy of curriculum and department/division updates. Establishes timelines for the annual College Catalog. Develops annual College Catalog in online and print formats using the Acalog platform. Responsible for back-end set up for annual course and program proposals in Curriculog. Guides Academic Divisions in the curriculum process for course and program revisions and new courses and programs of instruction. Establishes timelines for submitting curriculum proposals for new programs in accordance with the College and state curriculum process. Ensures the use of Skillabi in course and program revision processes. Updates training videos for Curriculog course and program proposals. Maintains a working knowledge of college curricula and assessment. Oversees the annual review of Closing the Loop forms with academic and non-academic divisions. Meets with academic and non-academic divisions to review assessment outcomes. Facilitates curriculum and assessment workshops. Coordinates Assessment Day in collaboration with the LOAC Chair and Assistant Dean of Assessment and Prior Learning Initiatives. Provides oversight to the Non-Academic Assessment Committee Chair for the coordination of non-academic assessment and Non-Academic Assessment Day. Prepares back-end set-up for Simple Syllabus each term. Guides academic divisions on process for setting up master syllabi in Simple Syllabus. Maintains discipline-specific master syllabi in Simple Syllabus platform. Updates training videos for Simple Syllabus. Collaborates with Learning Resources to initiate semester course syllabi in Canvas. Assesses College course portfolio and submits required reports to the New Jersey Council of County Colleges and NJ Transfer. Drafts responses to Program Announcements monthly. Reviews course capacity, section capacity, course need, and campus master schedule for effective enrollment management. Generates enrollment reports of scheduled courses across the college and provide recommendations to the academic deans considering course capacity, section capacity, course need, and campus/modality schedule. Generates weekly reports for curriculum, assessment, and enrollment management. Reviews learning outcomes and assessment plans for new programs, program revisions, new courses, and course revisions. Utilizes technological tools (SharePoint, Canvas, Acalog, Curriculog) to ensure efficient and accurate curriculum and outcomes assessment processes. Stays current with regulatory requirements, including Middle States Commission on Higher Education ( MSCHE ) and New Jersey Council of County Colleges ( NJCCC ), as well as state and national trends in higher education assessment and teaching and learning to ensure college compliance and effectiveness. Provides training to faculty and staff on outcomes assessment principles and practices, teaching and learning tools and resources, and the use of the Curriculog and Skillabi platform for the curriculum process. Develops curriculum maps for articulation agreements and Early College with partner institutions and high schools. Updates the Institutional Effectiveness Plan, Assessment Handbook, Adjunct Handbook. Curriculum Handbook, Division Handbook, and year-end reports, and other department documents. Addresses student concerns through collaboration with the Student Development Division, Academic Deans, and Dean of Curriculum and Assessment as appropriate. • Assists with logistics for Middle States re-affirmation of accreditation site visit. Participates in the Middle States Self-Study and supports accreditation processes. • Participates in commencement and college-wide meetings and events. • Participates as a member of college governance committees. • Represents the College at conferences and seminars, as needed. • Other duties as assigned. Education Requirements Master's Degree required. Experience Teaching experience, community college teaching preferred. Administrative experience in higher education preferred. Experience in planning, coordination and ongoing improvement of curriculum preferred. Experience in outcomes assessment preferred. Experience in analyzing data to provide data-informed recommendations. Experience with college and state curriculum processes preferred. Competencies and Skills Required Has strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, especially intermediate Excel skills. Demonstrates an interest and willingness to learn new technologies. Has demonstrated project management skills. Exhibits a commitment to a culturally diverse perspective. Possesses excellent oral and written communication skills. Has proficiency with generating reports and analyzing data. Works effectively with individuals and groups. Exhibits curiosity, independence, and initiative. Is adaptable and learns quickly. Maintains a commitment to the mission of a comprehensive community college. Physical Demands and Work Environment • This position's duties are normally performed in a typical interior/residence work environment, based on the activity scheduled. • Some physical effort required; however, the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. • No or very limited exposure to physical risk. • Some travel required.
