JOB TITLE:Decoration and Assembly Team Leader- 3rd ShiftDEPARTMENT:AssemblyREPORTS TO:Plant ManagerSUPERVISES:Production Assistant, Assemblers I & IIIFLSA STATUS:Non-Exempt HourlyJOB SUMMARYResponsible for supervisingProduction Assistant, Assemblers I and III, including assignment of their work, providing necessary training and all other performance management support, and compliance with all company policies. Ensures that all processes, procedures and tests are being properly executed to assure conformance to the companies' quality standards and customers' expectations. Ensures that all assembly lines are properly setup (ergonomically and safely), that the line staffing is correct, and that throughput is at the level expected and according to the production schedule. Responsible for maintaining a safe and healthy work environment with zero workplace incidents due to unsafe acts and unsafe conditions.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESSupervision:Responsible for supervising the performance of Production Assistant, Assemblers I & III to ensure that team goals and objectives are achieved by ensuring TeamMate job core responsibilities and performance expectations are well defined, TeamMates have a clear understanding of department goals and objectives, TeamMates have the necessary skills, tools and materials to do their job, and the general working climate facilitates the successful performance of their job responsibilities.Representative duties may include:Overseeing all aspects of assembly activities such as job assignments, quality, inventory, and safety.Monitoring the work to ensure it is completed in an efficient and cost-effective fashion.Verifying that documentation and paper work associated with production has been completed.Enforcing all company policies and proceduresAuthorizing and scheduling TeamMate vacation consistent with the needs of the department/companyCompleting necessary reports such as absence reports, machine trouble reports, Foreman's log etc.Ensuring functional activities are managed safely, efficiently, productively and in compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.Respecting the confidentiality of company, customer and personnel information.Maintaining TeamMate job performance by coaching, counseling, disciplining, planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.Maintaining a high level of communication to ensure good relations with TeamMates and maintaining positive morale.Maintaining a positive attitude and cooperative working relationship with TeamMates throughout the company.Communicating all disciplinary needs and documentation to the Shift Foreman.To be measured by:Ability to plan work efforts, communicate requirements, provide direction, answer questions, and guide and mentor TeamMates.Synergy, attitude and morale of Team members.Accomplishment of objectives and results.Production / Productivity:Guides and directs the activities of the Production Assistant, Assemblers I & III to effectively execute the production schedule while achieving established goals for productivity, efficiency, quality and on-time delivery.Representative duties may include:Staffing lines according to the number of TeamMates needed.Ensuring parts are being assembled and packed according to specifications and instructions.Adjusting personnel and machine work assignments as conditions warrant; assigning TeamMates alternate work during machine downtime.Communicating with the previous shift Team Leaders, with a goal to understand the problems and situations that might be seen throughout the shift.Investigating production problems, with a goal to minimize down time and maximize the production of good quality parts.Ensuring that all equipment is running as efficiently as possible. Documenting non-conforming conditions with machines on a Machine Trouble Report Form (MTR). If the machine can operate with limitations, makes a copy of the MTR listing the limitations and posts on the machine.Maintains effective intra-and inter-departmental communications.Monitoring computer entries, reviewing routings, and marking orders complete.To be measured by:Utilization and productivity of TeamMates (Direct Labor Productivity Report).Effectiveness of problem-resolution activities pertaining to materials, tools, equipment, processes and inventory variances.On time productionCommunications with Team Foreman on items impacting productivity and efficiency.Quality:Ensures strict adherence to all quality procedures and standards and ultimately is responsible for the consistent production of quality parts.Representative duties may include:Performing daily audits to ensure all necessary quality tests/inspections are being completed correctly.Cooperating with the Quality Department; enforcing and adhering to all quality procedures.Qualifying TeamMates for regular production work by verifying they understand and are capable of completing quality tasks by testing the TeamMates on Quality procedures such as handle weld, spin weld, packing, routing & computer entry.Performing random quality checks.Performing dishwasher ink adhesion tests as described in procedure.Documenting non-conforming conditions found during inspections in the Quality Log and notifying Shift Foreman, Quality Manager.Documents all non-conforming conditions with orders on an Order Processing Concern Form (OPC). 118-F-10002 and gathers samples for Quality ManagerAnalyzing and adjusting equipment as needed to verify that production meets quality specifications.Cooperating in the investigation of customer complaints so that root causes can be determined and eliminated.Verifying the accuracy of all paperwork and computer entries.Tracking orders and parts sent to workshops that require inspection before shipping; ensuring these orders and parts are inspected, results are documented, and defective products are segregated.Reviewing routings labeled “Previous Customer Complaint” in comparison with a Customer Complaint list; monitoring the assembly and packing of these orders.Providing annual training of quality procedures.To be measured by:The number and cost of customer complaints (final customer) attributed to the Assembly Department.Rejects attributed to Assembly; number of occurrences, reasons for rejects, and percentage of rejects associated to a specific shiftThe number and severity of CAPA's submitted for process-related quality concerns.Attainment of scrap reduction goals.Safety and Housekeeping:Responsible for maintaining a safe and healthy work environment with zero workplace incidents due to unsafe acts and unsafe conditions.Representative duties may include:Enforcing safety policies and regulationsInvestigating TeamMate incidents and near misses; unsafe acts are discussed promptly with appropriate discipline issued; necessary paperwork is completed.Advising and cautioning TeamMates about potential problems and dangers; implementing changes that reduce/eliminate safety hazards.Ensuring that all equipment utilized in the Plant is free of recognized hazards.Ensuring that the equipment is operated in accordance with manufacture's recommendations, and all TeamMates have been trained in the safe and proper use of the equipment.Addressing corrective actions in a timely fashion and not repeating in subsequent monthly inspections.Making housekeeping a day-to-day practice by ensuring that the guidelines for “Manufacturers of Food Packaging” are followed as a matter of routine.Ensuring that tools and other equipment are stored properly.To be measured by:Written evidence of training sessions with dated & signed training logs.Number of unsafe acts and unsafe conditions as the cause of reported incidents.Number of lost time incidents and days.Number of restricted hours as a result of incidents.Evidence of disciplinary action related to unsafe acts.Number of findings reported on monthly ASI / safety inspections related to Shift operations.To include Critical, non-critical, and reoccurring issues.Care and safekeeping of company equipment and tools.5.Training:Ensures that TeamMates have been trained in all tasks relevant to the performance their job.Representative duties may include:Ensuring that TeamMates have been trained/retrained, developed and involved in quality activities for all tasks relevant to performing their job.Coordinating training/remedial training of quality and operational procedures with trainers for new TeamMates.Communicating new procedures, policies to TeamMates.Staffing all positions with trained back-ups.Ensuring that procedures and work instructions are accurate and up to date.Retraining TeamMates are as needed, with a goal to improve TeamMate skills.To be measured by:Training documentation.List of trained backup.Up-to-date procedures.The number and cost of customer complaints (final customer) attributed to the Assembly Department.Rejects attributed to Assembly; These classes will include Quality Auditor and Quality Improvement ASQ courses and Basics of Supply Chain Management and Execution and Control of Operations APICS courses.·Stays informed on quality news and industry trends.·Effective navigation of AS400.PHYSICAL DEMANDSLifting of 50lbs maximum. Frequent lifting/carrying up to 25lbs. Unrestricted walking and standing. Bending, squatting, climbing ladders, kneeling, reaching above shoulders, lifting overhead, pushing and pulling.
