GLENPOOL PUBLIC SCHOOLS JOB DESCRIPTIONPosition Title: HealthAssistantReports to: Site AdministratorFLSA Designation: Non-exemptCalendar: 9 monthSUMMARY: Responsible for assisting the school nurse(s) in protecting the health of students and school personnel. The health clerk functions under the supervision and direction of a certified school nurse.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned by supervisor.
- Assists with basic first aid and emergency care according to district policies and procedures
- Follows documented training, administers and records medications according to district policies and procedures and reviews all new medications with the school nurse
- Maintains a daily log of students seen in the nurse's office
- Assists in keeping accurate health records for each student
- Reviews all student health history documents and discuss any health issues with the school nurse
- Contacts parents of ill children and send home according to district policies and procedures
- Follows documented training, assists with hearing and vision screenings on all students and verifies that students not passing the screening guidelines are referred to the school nurse for further evaluation
- Treats all students with dignity and respect
- Maintains confidentiality in all school situations and health matters
- Works well with both supervisors and other members of the team
- Maintains consistent and punctual attendance
- Performs other duties assigned by supervisor or administrator

Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all District requirements and Board of Education policies.
