Responsibilities and Duties:
- Take a proactive approach to the training and development of lower echelon team members ensuring that they are obtaining the skills and knowledge to grow within the company.
- Mentor lower echelon team members to ensure TP Mechanical processes and procedures are understood and are being followed.
- Encourage continual education and development in other pipefitters.
- Oversee the coordination, layout, fit up, installation, assembly, and/or repair of commercial piping systems including fixtures and equipment for piping systems.
- Monitor the performance of field fabrication of piping systems and set up the specific task or project schedule.
- Oversee work sequences to meet construction schedules, using knowledge of equipment and lower-level personnel capacities.
- Track materials to ensure timely completion of the work scheduled. Ensure optimal material consumption.
- Read blueprints and interpret specifications.
- Oversee the completion of punch-list items and distribution as required.
- Work with general superintendent to help plan work to make the most efficient use of assigned manpower and other resources.
- Inspect work in progress and completed work to ensure conformance to contract and specification.
- Ensure the needs of general contractors, owners, and other customers as well as entrusted employees are met.
- Participates in the project management process by keeping the superintendent or project manager aware of all issues affecting production, schedule, and relationships.
- Assist project manager and superintendents with problems or questions in an accurate and timely manner.
- Attend, as required, all jobsite and office meetings related to assigned projects.
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience:
- 15+ years commercial experience in field piping operations.
- Prior shop experience a plus.
- Stable work history.
Job Skills:
- Advanced ability to read and interpret blueprints.
- Advanced knowledge of piping and equipment installation.
- Ability to fabricate complex offsets.
- Knowledge of the use of all hand and power tools used in installation and service of piping systems.
- Able to do complex take-offs.
- Works within precise limits or standards of accuracy and productivity.
- Ability to solve complex problems using mathematical processes.
- Ability to communicate in a clear, concise manner.
- Able to effectively train and mentor lower echelon employees on a continual basis.
Education:
- High School or GED Equivalent.
- Journeyman's license
- Trade School a plus.
- Additional trade licenses and certifications for advanced knowledge in field.
Physical Requirements:
- Eyesight correctable to 20/50.
- Able to work long hours on feet.
- Able to lift and climb ladders and scaffolds.
- Able to perform shift work.
- Must be able to lift objects weighing up to 60lbs.
- Must be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Must not be afraid of heights.
Special Requirements:
- Valid Driver's License.
- Must provide own basic hand tools.
- Able to operate heavy machinery.
- OSHA 10 certificate.
