Required Certification Requires one of the following: - a valid Professional Educator License issued by the Utah State Board of Education with a Secondary or CTE License Area of Concentration with an automotive service technician endorsement. - a valid Associate Educator License issued by the Utah State Board of Education with a Secondary or CTE License Area of Concentration with an automotive service technician endorsement. - an equivalent license and endorsement in another state; or - Have six (6) years of documented, related, full-time occupational experience (not teaching experience) within the ten (10) years prior to application as an automotive service technician with demonstration of competency in maintenance light repair, suspension & steering, brakes, electrical/electronic systems, and engine repair through dealer manufacturer-based equivalents. - Have current Automotive Service Excellence Industry exams: G1-MLR, A4-Suspension & Steering, A5-Brakes, A6-Electrical/Electronic Systems, A8-Engine Performance. Note: ASE certification in all five areas will be required for ongoing instruction in the Auto Service Technician training program. Utilize effective teaching techniques in translating lesson plans into productive student learning experiences which best utilize the time available for instruction Utilize computers and other technological classroom support equipment in student instruction. Supervision of students requires both indoor and outdoor responsibilities (e.g. recess duty, gymnasium activities, etc.) in all types of weather and air quality. Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom through organization and appropriate discipline strategies. Evaluate students' academic and social growth, maintain appropriate records, and prepare progress reports. Be familiar with and willing to implement Proficiency-Based Learning in evaluating students.
