DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT – NEW YORK CITY – HYBRID This is an excellent opportunity in a Not-For-Profit educational organization located in New York City. They are searching for a DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT (Philanthropy) who has a strong passion for team success and ongoing improvement. This Not-For Profit organization has a vision to grow and add more schools yearly and believes strongly in providing the children in their communities with excellent and equitable education which is well deserved. They want to change the landscape of public education in New York City and beyond. Their students receive a world-class education which consists of high academic achievement and social-emotional development at the elementary and middle school level.DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT CANDIDATE OVERVIEW
  • Resides in or is within a commutable distance of the Manhattan, New York City area.
  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • 5-7+ years of work experience in nonprofit fundraising, philanthropy, and/or management consulting
  • Passionate about team success and continual improvement.
  • Has a creative, problem-solving mindset;
  • Is an incredible written and oral communicator,
  • Excels at building relationships and is interested in education.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Establishing this organization as a top choice for philanthropy for those looking to support innovative solutions to the education crisis and to transform the landscape of public education.
  • Planning, executing, and evaluating the annual fundraising strategy and initiatives to achieve annual fundraising target
  • Planning fundraising and other special events, from concept through execution, including sourcing and managing vendors.
  • Expanding the base of support among institutional and individual donors
  • Communicating with donors/supporters and board members and answering inquiries in a timely fashion
  • Supporting the grant-writing and award applications
  • Managing donor and supporter relationships and visits to schools
  • Creating pitch and solicitation materials, with special attention to tailoring messaging for particular audiences
  • Staying on top of fundraising trends in education and the broader nonprofit sector
  • Supporting the Director of Strategic Impact and CEO in growing and managing their Board of Directors and Board of Trustees
