Job Summary: The Terminal Manager is responsible for overseeing all daily operations at their assigned location. This position ensures efficient, safe, customer-focused terminal operations while managing personnel and resources, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory requirements, and optimizing terminal performance to meet operational goals. Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Oversees the operation of the terminal and staff
  • Ensures assistant managers and supervisors manage their teams efficiently to achieve department and organizational goals
  • Recruits and interviews prospective employees and chooses the best applicant based on skills, knowledge, and abilities required for the job
  • Provides orientation and training for new employees
  • Completes performance evaluations that are timely and constructive
  • Communicates expectations, coaches for improvement and distributes discipline when necessary according to policy
Essential Job Functions:
  • Responsible for the oversight of all daily operations at their assigned terminal(s) including loading, and unloading, scheduling, equipment, and inventory management
  • Spearheads the development and implementation of innovative protocols aimed at enhancing operational efficiency, reducing downtime, and achieving service delivery objectives
  • Ensures strict adherence to safety regulations, environmental standards, and company policies
  • Develops and oversees the implementation of new procedures to increase efficiency, minimize downtime, and meet service delivery targets
  • Drives organizational culture and ensures that all staff members are functioning cohesively
  • Maintains strong customer relationships with plants, dairies, and vendors by maintaining open communication, addressing concerns, and resolving issues promptly
  • Uphold and enforce safety protocols, policies, and regulatory compliance standards within the terminal, prioritizing the well-being of staff and assets
  • Strategically allocates resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials, to meet operational requirements while prudently managing costs
  • Collaborates closely with the maintenance department to coordinate timely repairs and upkeep of equipment, vehicles, and facilities, ensuring uninterrupted and safe operations
  • Maintains accurate records, logs, and reports for the terminal including performance metrics and incidents, and generates regular reports for management and regulatory authorities
  • Actively fosters cohesion and alignment across all WDT locations, promoting a unified organizational culture and shared objectives
  • Collaborates with other management stakeholders and the HR department on hiring and termination decisions, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and values
  • Develops and oversees the terminal budget, meticulously monitoring expenses to ensure fiscal responsibility in accordance with organizational goals
  • Works closely with the recruiting department to drive talent acquisition and retention initiatives, ensuring the terminal's staffing needs are met effectively
  • Monitors Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) diligently, identifying areas for enhancement and implementing strategies for continuous improvement
  • Remains abreast of industry standards and best practices, continuously updating knowledge and skills to drive operational excellence
  • Travel within designated region
  • Responsible for the collection of drug and alcohol screening tests and maintaining certification per regulations

Qualifications:Required:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Driver's license in state of residency with acceptable driving record
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and submit to the company random drug and alcohol program
  • 3+ years of leadership or operations experience
  • Proficiency in basic computer skills including Microsoft Office applications and Google Workspace
  • Ability to lead and influence others
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple projects
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work any schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays, and travel as needed
  • Flexibility and adaptability to handle changing operational demands and priorities
Preferred:
  • Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, or related field.
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with tank endorsement from state of residence
  • Knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, and OSHA regulations
This is a salaried position with a range of 59,000 - 89,000 depending on qualifications and experience. Physical Requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential function of this job. This is mostly a general laborer classification, standing in outdoor work areas and walking between terminals, maintenance shops, and Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) operating areas for long periods must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Work Environment: The duties of this job are performed in an office environment, a CMV Terminal environment, and outdoors, thereby experiencing some minor to moderate level of noise due to office/CMV equipment. Must have a working knowledge of and physically utilize personal protective equipment (PPE) to limit or prevent occasional exposure to various severe climate conditions, lighting conditions, fumes, dust, odors, oil/grease, and gasses.
