Objective of the Position: Performs various assignments in support of engineering research and development such as building prototype parts, assemblies other devices. Works from sketches, specifications, and drawings. Troubleshoots to ensure design of manufacturability and practicality.Essential Accountabilities: The position incumbent ensures, that
- Build prototype exhaust systems utilizing welding and fabrication equipment in accordance to customer specification with little or no supervision
- Assist engineers in producing, installing and benchmarking exhaust systems
- Lay-out, fit, and fabricate metal components to assemble exhaust systems, using knowledge of welding techniques and engineering requirements. Must be able to layout from drawings and specifications and plan welding operations where procedural information is unavailable.
- Sets-up and operate major machine tools such as lathes, mills, grinders etc. to machine developmental parts and/or to fabricate developmental prototype parts/units.
- Work includes rolling, sizing, stuffing, sheering, grinding, conducting self-inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance
- Recommend corrective action to minimize scrap output in the manufacturing environment
Secondary Accountabilities:The position incumbent ensures, that
- Conduct all business-related activities for, and on the behalf of, Purem within the limits of applicable local, state, and federal legal requirements.
- Delivering parts to internal & external customers, when required.
- Assisting in the maintaining of correct inventory, following established process and/or leadership direction.
- Provide support to, and compliance with, all local and corporate Eberspaecher Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) policies, procedures and other HSE related requirements.
- Quality - Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness and follows all EETAM polices related to TS16949 and ISO 14001; looks for way to improve and promote quality.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirement Profile:Professional Background / Basic Qualification / Work Experience:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Certificate from technical or vocational school in welding
- Minimum two years' experience working as a fabrication technician specializing in metal forming or metal fabrication, MIG/MAG and TIG welding, or equivalent experience.
- Basic mechanical aptitude.
Technical Expertise:
- Ability to apply mathematical concepts and operations, including calculations, percentages, etc.
- Ability to read blue prints.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos, and write simple correspondence.
- Knowledge of continuous improvement of products for manufacturability.
- Knowledge of engineering fundaments, mechanical systems, automotive systems, and exhaust systems.
- Strives to continuously improve expertise, knowledge and skills.
