Position: Finance Director/Full-TimeClassification: ExemptReports to: Executive DirectorCompensation: $90,000-$110,000Benefits: Full-time employees are eligible to enroll in the benefits (medical, dental, vision) after 60 days of employment, and 401k after 90 days of employment, with a Company Match. We are passionate about helping our community, and we are looking for a skilled Finance Director who shares our mission-driven focus to help ensure the financial health and operational efficiency of our organization. Position Objectives: The Finance Director is responsible for overseeing and executing the financial operations of LISTEN Community Services. This includes working with the Executive Director, the Board of Directors and Senior Management to develop and manage the organization's annual budget, financial reporting, and forecasting to support the organization's mission. This role maintains fiscal controls to ensure the organization's financial health and sustainability. The role will also include oversight of IT systems and facilities management to ensure operational effectiveness across the organization. This position works closely with the Executive Director, Board of Directors, and other members of the senior management team to support the mission of LISTEN Community Services.RESPONSIBILITIES:Financial and Accounting Management •Oversee all financial activities, including but not limited to: budgeting, forecasting, sales and revenue, and cash flow management.•Responsible for the day-to-day accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, banking, audits, ledger and cost center management.•Oversee and monitor financial performance against budgetary goals and provide regular reports to the Executive Director, Senior Management and the Board of Directors.•Prepare regular financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, forecasting and cash flow statements, to provide insights into the organization's financial health (cost reductions and operational improvements).•Partners with the Director of Development on financial aspects of grant applications, reporting, and compliance requirements.•Oversees the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures to ensure efficient and effective use of resources.•Establish and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard the organization's assets and prevent fraud or financial mismanagement. •Conduct financial analysis to support strategic decision-making and resource allocation including the financial viability of retail operations, programs and initiatives and identify areas for efficiency improvement. •Develop financial models and projections to support long-term planning and sustainability goals.•Work with the senior management team to develop annual budgets and short/long-term financial forecasts. •Monitor actual performance against budgets and identify variances and provide analysis to support decision-making.•Collaborate with the board on investment strategies and financial decision-making to drive organizational growth.Payroll and Time Keeping•Work with Human Resources to oversee and ensure accurate processing of biweekly payroll for all employees ensuring compliance with company, as well as Federal and State requirements.•Partner with Human Resources to accurately calculate wages, bonuses, stipends, overtime, leave and deductions.•Work with Human Resources to oversee special payroll runs for off-cycle payments, terminations, or other employee compensation adjustments.•Partners with Human Resources to collect, review, and verify timekeeping data, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and labor regulations.•Partners with Human Resources to ensure employee time records accurately reflect appropriate time allocations, e.g., time away, FMLA, Short-term Leave, unpaid time etc.Business Compliance & Reporting•Implement strong internal controls including segregation of duties, regular reviews, and approval processes to prevent errors and fraud. Identify and assess financial risks facing the organization and develop strategies to mitigate risks.•Ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and relevant financial regulations and reporting standards, including IRS regulations for non-profit organizations.•Utilize financial management software and systems to streamline processes, improve accuracy, and enhance reporting capabilities. •Prepare and file all required payroll and business, quarterly and annual tax reports and filings, including federal, state, and local taxes and fees ensuring timely payments.•Non-Profit Reporting: Oversee the preparation and filing of non-profit-specific forms, such as the IRS Form 990 and any state-level charitable registration forms, to maintain the organization's tax-exempt status.•Distribute annual W-2 and 1099 forms to employees and contractors and ensure end-of-year payroll tax reporting is accurate and compliant.•Stay updated on changes in business and payroll regulations, tax laws, and labor legislation to ensure compliance.•Ensure the organization maintains current business licenses, registrations, and permits at the federal, state, and local levels. Track renewal dates and ensure timely submissions for continued compliance.•Support internal and external financial audits. Prepare required documentation and address auditor requests.Information Systems•Provide leadership to the roles overseeing IT and ensure business continuity and system resilience.•Provide leadership to ensure IT service providers are delivering a technology infrastructure that is secure, reliable, and cost-effective.•Work with senior management to identify and implement software systems that best support an efficient operation for the organization.•Lead and enforce IT policies, including data security, privacy, and access protocols, to protect sensitive information and ensure compliance with regulations.•Manage the IT budget, balancing the need for technological advancements with cost-efficiency.•Utilize data and metrics to monitor performance and make informed decisions.Facilities Management•Work with senior management and the facilities manager to develop and oversee strategic facilities management plans that aligns with the organization's overall mission, objectives, and growth projections.•Manage the facilities budget, balancing the need for capital investment (e.g., expansion, renovation, new construction, equipment) with cost-efficiency.•Oversee facility sustainability initiatives, focusing on environmental impact and operational efficiency.Communication and Leadership •Provide day-to-day leadership of the finance team, ensuring financial integrity and operational efficiency.•Supervise and mentor finance staff, providing guidance and professional development opportunities.•Effective communication with other departments, auditors, the Board and stakeholders.•Build and manage relationships with banks, vendors, and other financial partners to ensure smooth optimize financial operations, service delivery and cost-effectiveness.•Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and ethical conduct across the organization.•Works to build financial literacy and transparency with management, staff, the Board, donors and the community, where appropriate.Other •Attend and participate in all staff meetings and training programs as requested.•Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.REQUIREMENTS:•A bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field is required. MBA or professional certification such as CPA, CFA, or CMA is preferred.•At least 5-7 years of progressive experience in business operations and financial management, accounting, or related roles.•Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) with strong computer skills, including collaboration tools like Teams, SharePoint, Zoom. Able to quickly learn and adapt to new software and technologies.•Strong leader with an ability to guide and mentor employees at all levels, focusing on personal and professional development to enhance capabilities and performance.•Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to balance transparency and confidentiality.•Proven experience working with diverse teams, commitment to DEI initiatives, and fostering inclusive work environments is essential.•Positive, compassionate attitude and strong desire to help others.Extensive experience in overseeing financial activities such as budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis and planning, and cash flow management.Strong skills in developing and implementing operational policies and procedures to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.Knowledge of grant management and compliance requirements for non-profit organizations.Demonstrates exceptional interpersonal effectiveness by building rapport, fostering collaboration, and communicating clearly, which enhances team dynamics and promotes a positive work environment.Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with stakeholders, banks, vendors, and financial partners.Comfortable speaking to the mission of the organization and initiatives.Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to compliance regulations.•Willingness to provide information for background check processing.LISTEN Community Services is an equal opportunity employer.
