Summary This position is located at the Sisseton Service Unit in the Housekeeping Department. The purpose of the position is to work alone or as a crew to perform the full range of custodial duties in assigned areas within the hospital or clinic, following general instructions on the work to be completed. Responsibilities Conduct minor maintenance of cleaning equipment such as industrial scrubbers, vacuum cleaners, manual/powered common cleaning tools. Use cleaning equipment such as Industrial scrubbers, vacuum cleaners, manual/powered common cleaning tools. Use cleaning equipment, such as a mop, dust mop, micro fiber system, or window cleaning system, to maintain the restroom. Operates Personal Protective Equipment and familiar with Safety Data Sheets. Ensures that work and customer areas are neat and clean in support of a safe work environment. Cleans patient care areas, offices, restrooms, and other public areas. Conduct periodic inventories to ensure sufficient quantities of custodial cleaning supplies are maintained. Performs housekeeping techniques; such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming floors, carpet extractions, high and low dusting, floor care (I.e. scrubbing, stripping, waxing and buffing floors), window cleaning, damp wiping, handrails, baseboards, walls, trash cans, etc. Perform seasonal tasks including salting or sanding building access ways during icing conditions, shoveling snow, cutting grass, pulling weeds and trimming bushes. Performs immediate on-call clean-up of spills, debris, litter and restocking of supplies in common or public areas to ensure a safe environment for patients, visitors and employees. Stands for long periods of time and able to repeatedly/frequently reach, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl. Requirements Conditions of Employment Must pass pre-employment examination. Qualifications To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: WG-2: Follows oral or written instructions and/or work orders; performing janitorial/custodial, and grounds maintenance duties, including mopping, waxing, and polishing floors; cleaning walls, ceilings, room partitions and polishing fixtures; emptying trash receptacles; performing Ice and snow removal from sidewalks and entrance ways; performing cleanup of spills, debris, and litter from common areas; and removing soiled and/or contaminated items following strict procedures to prevent cross contamination: etc. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
