DescriptionJOB PURPOSE AND SUMMARY Ensure quality of products by completing the approved training matrix and on-the-job training conducted by the Filler Operator I. Operates hot pouch forming and filling machines. Monitors and tracks fill weights, temperatures, pouch codes. Shall become competent in a timely manner of learning all CIP/COP and all sanitation in a manner that is outlined in our SOP program. Learn with other operators the implementation and support MES system. Assist with implementation of 5S program. Support the review, understanding and compliance of all programs, policies and procedures contained in the Food Safety and Quality Management System. Understand that I am responsible for reporting food safety issues observed so appropriate action can be taken. Actively participate and support the 5S and MES initiatives. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Completes production, quality and sanitation paperwork. Follows approved procedures while operating a filling machine forming and filling pouches.
  • Shall be able to identify CCP's and understands variance procedures. Also, ensures pouch quality based on MSP specifications.
  • Shall set up the fillers, metal detectors, check weighers and pouch coders and ensure accuracy for optimum performance during product startups and product changeovers.
  • Performs setup and adjustments to check weighers, metal detectors, and temperature control devices, while in operation.
  • Know how to read, understand, and follow the MSP.
  • Uses a computer for inputting data.
  • Responsible for assisting in the training of new filler operators and break relief's in the filling process, to include material handling, material tracking, filling, and documentation procedures.
  • Complete start up sheets for all products and insures accuracy.
  • Monitor and perform COP/CIP/GMP's of filling room and all associated areas.
  • Changes film rolls while eliminating waste of film using a forklift and lift cart (safely).
  • Performs preventative maintenance as prescribed in machine operation manuals.
  • Follows approved procedures completing CIP/COP of filling machines, room sanitation.
  • Responsible for ensuring GMP compliance of filler room employees, and all associated areas of the filling room.
  • Completes production, quality and sanitation paperwork.
  • Understands and follows recycling program.
  • Performs other duties as needed or assigned by Supervisor or Line Lead.
  • POSITION DIMENSIONS AND QUALIFICATIONS Internal Contacts: Operations Manager and Supervisors, Line Lead, Maintenance personnel, Case Maker Operator, Pouch Packer Operator, Batch operator, Dump operator, Quality personnel. External Contacts: Customers, R&D, auditors, ingredient and chemical suppliers. Education Level and Focus: High School diploma or equivalent preferred. Willingness to continue education through approved courses or classes that will enhance personal and professional growth. Years and Type of Related Experience Required: Food processing experience in a technically advanced facility preferred. SKILLS AND ABILITIES Interpersonal and Communication: Operator must beable to function with minimal supervision, follow processing CIP/COP/GMP and sanitation procedures, safety rules, capacity to learn, and other directives. Operator must be able to speak and write English. Develop and implement with supervision, measurable cost saving measures and procedures. Technical and Analytical: Operator must havebasic math skills, process equipment problem solving aptitude, mechanical aptitude, ability to operate a forklift, computer literate using word, excel, procedure templates and possess good writing skills. Aptitude for detailed documentation of operation including down time, film usage, fill volume, fill temperature and seal integrity. Administrative and Operations: Operator has aptitude for detailed documentation of the batching, CIP/COP/GMP and room sanitation processes and procedures; able to implement and apply time management skills and procedures to define the batching process to be efficient and cost effective. Physical Demands: Agile, standing for long periods of time, reaching, bending, lift 50+ lbs., climbing stairs, ability to work various shifts. Work Environment: Food plant, cold, hot and humid conditions, wet floors, high noise levels, forklift traffic. This is a Safety Sensitive position. Special Equipment Used: Pouch filling machines, lift cart, high pressure wash station, portable foaming unit, computer, metal detectors, and check weight machines. General maintenance tools for COP/CIP equipment and required hand tools.
