Internship for a Mechanical Engineer Major to support our Compressor Product Engineering Group in the launch of automotive air conditioning compressor designs for global customer vehicle applications. This position requires a hands-on individual who will be expected to participate in all aspects of the product development process including product design, component selection, prototype builds, prototype testing, and test data analysis.We offer you an excellent opportunity for growth & development and support your engineering career in a targeted way. Continue your path – with MAHLE.ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:Work within the MAHLE Compressor Product Development team to advance product development and customer launch activitiesAssist with preparation, build, and testing of compressor product samplesCoordinate test programsAnalyze test data and organize results with observations and conclusionsApply engineering practices to reach design solutionsParticipate in product cost and quality improvement effortsParticipate in cross-functional teams related to customer program launch activityParticipate in meetings, seminars, and training sessionsMeet with outside suppliers/vendorsOperate machine tools / produce product componentsPerforms other assignments as instructed by Department ManagementQUALIFICATIONS:Enrolled at a 4-year accredited university and GPA of 3.0 or higherAny previous internship is preferred but not requiredHigh level of analytical skills and mechanical aptitude preferredExperience with precision rotating equipmentExperience reading technical drawings and interpreting GD&T (geometric dimension & tolerancing)Good written and oral skills – ability to convey technical conceptsAbility to manage time and organize effectively with multiple projectsAbility to work effectively in a team environmentGood results orientation, strong work ethic and interpersonal skillsComputer competency with Microsoft Office and AutoCAD drafting knowledge preferred
