What You'll Do:

The Mascot Assistant will be responsible for assisting with the planning and execution of all day-to-day operations for the Chicago Blackhawks Tommy Hawk Mascot Program. This role will primarily focus on supporting lead in preparation and onsite facilitation of all mascot performances including Chicago Blackhawks games, team events, and all outside appearances with the goal of maximizing the entertainment offerings of the Tommy Hawk brand.

How You'll Contribute:
  • Provide onsite management and assist with all Tommy Hawk appearances at Blackhawks home games along with both internal and external events.
  • Work closely with the Mascot Manager to coordinate Tommy Hawk's schedule and lead in preparation documentation (detailed appearance plans, event outlines, and scripting) for all appearances and events.
  • Ensure all Tommy Hawk in-game elements and logistics are executed with a high attention to detail.
  • Be the spoken voice of Tommy Hawk - serving as the boots on the ground voice for Tommy Hawk at all games and events.
  • Assist in the development of new skits, stunts, as well as other innovative ideas, to enhance game presentation, team events, and community appearances.
  • Support the conceptualization and content capture for Tommy Hawk social media channels.
  • Assist with prop and costume production, care, laundering, and maintenance.
  • Maintain mascot program procurement and inventory management, including organization of storage areas along with asset cleaning and repairs.
  • Manage coordination and training of part-time gameday assistants.
  • Serve as the understudy to our primary mascot performer.
  • Support all Events and Experience department objectives with the goal of creating an elite fan experience.
  • Perform all other duties as needed.
What You Bring to the Table:
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing or related field.
  • 1-2 years collegiate or professional sports franchise experience - specifically with a mascot program.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays as dictated by the event and game schedules.
  • Exceptional organization and time management skills and the ability to organize resources, establish priorities and develop, plan, and implement short- and long-range goals.
  • Have a firm understanding of the mascot industry and best practices.
  • Ability to apply creativity and design principles to assigned projects.
  • Ability to engage through verbal, non-verbal, and written communication with strong listening skills.
  • Ability to work independently without supervision, be self-directed and demonstrate initiative.
  • Aptitude for collaborating cross-departmentally and build rapport with a diverse set of stakeholders.
  • Ability to perform complex tasks and to prioritize multiple projects.
  • Ability to address, adapt to, and overcome challenges in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • High attention to detail.
