Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Chief engineer, the Painter will use color theory principles to match shades, follow written and verbal instructions, and use a variety of tools to paint surfaces. In this role you will complete minor repairs and select correct paints and primers.

This role will pay an hourly rate of $30.

Snapdragon Stadium is a 35,000-seat multipurpose venue that serves as the home for San Diego State University football, San Diego Wave FC (NWSL soccer), San Diego Legion (MLR rugby), San Diego FC (MLS) major concerts and festivals, professional sports, motorsports, international soccer, high school sports, entertainment events and private special events. Responsibilities

* Apply paint to surfaces including walls, floors, doors, and cabinets.

* Mix, match, and apply paint, varnish, shellac, enamel, and other finishes.

* Scrape, sandpaper, prime, or seal surfaces prior to painting.

* Clean walls to ensure proper adherence.

* Cover surfaces with cloth or plastic to ensure protection.

* Fill cracks, holes, and joints with caulk, putty, plaster, or other fillers, using caulking guns or putty knives.

* Erect scaffolding, movable and immovable staging and various rigging to gain access to difficult areas; moves furniture and equipment as necessary.

* Remove fixtures such as pictures, doorknobs, lamps, and electric switch covers prior to painting.

* Apply several coats according to paint directions.

* Apply touchups or second coats.

* Remove paint splatters when finished.

* Clean up all equipment, including brushes and spray guns.

* Facilitate in other areas of facility operations on an as needed basis.

* Work extended and/or irregular hours including nights, weekends, holidays and hours as needed.

* Maintain a professional work ethic.

* Provide the highest customer service excellence.

* Maintain a cooperative, team-like attitude in working with supervisors and fellow employees (including other departments).

* Maintain safe working conditions.

* Clean work site.

* Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities:

* High school diploma or G.E.D. and 2 years of basic construction knowledge.

* Work effectively under pressure and/or stringent schedule and produce accurate results.

* Must be able to use a paint brush, paint roller and masking machine.

* Must have a basic knowledge of sheetrock repair.

* Work independently, exercising judgment and initiative

* Remain flexible and adjust to situations as they occur.

* Work on ladders to reach high ceilings or walls.

* Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time (8 hours+)

* Position is routinely required to work outdoors and is exposed to the elements (heat, rain, etc.)

* The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

* Ability to read and comprehend blueprints, drawings and other related materials.

* Ability to follow and adhere to all safety precautions, building codes, rules, regulations, risk management and emergency procedures.

* Ability to follow oral and written instructions and communicate effectively with others in both oral and written form.

* Ability to work independently, exercising judgment and initiative.

* Experience in stadiums, arenas, and/or convention centers is preferred.
