Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) is preferred but successful candidates should demonstrate the capacity to obtain PE registration.

We seek candidates with a focus on enhancing the resilience and sustainability of infrastructure systems. The successful candidate is expected to conduct research on developing, preserving and renewing intelligent, multi-functional resilient and sustainable transportation infrastructure; and/or advancing and transforming infrastructure health assessment, transportation asset management, and infrastructure safety though leveraging emerging data collection and analysis paradigms with the goal of modernizing transportation infrastructure. Successful applicants will work collaboratively within Virginia Tech's transdisciplinary research frontiers and with research teams across and outside the university including the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute and the Coalition for Smart Construction.
