Summary

Designs, installs, optimizes, and adapts electronic control systems and instruments to automate and monitor industrial processes. Develops technical designs, process diagrams, SCADA block diagrams, and control schematics to implement automation controls. Configures systems using PLC and HMI techniques. Models, tests, and measures output and data to analyze performance or quality issues and develop solutions.

Essential Responsibilities

Practical experience in the design, assembly, installation and repair of electronic sub-systems in an industrial environment

Directs all aspects of electronics circuit design with minimal supervision.

Conceptualizes and engineers new, unique electrical systems that meet customer requirements.

Schematic design and integration of circuit modules.

Actively participates in product design reviews and works directly with engineering staff to develop cost effective solutions.

Performs engineering change according to standard procedures with extreme attention to detail of the design and how the changes will affect disposition of past, present and future effected products and documentation.

Prepares and presents detailed technical reports to management and staff*.

Responsible for board-level deliverables to product team (documentation, BOM, etc).

Review requirements and test plans with product team.

Leads resolution of complex design issues and manages design trade-offs.

Define design innovations and potential patentable solutions.

Handles multiple projects simultaneously, meets deadlines while effectively managing priorities and communicating progress.

Communicates technical elements of a project effectively to team colleagues and managers where appropriate*.

Complies with safety regulations.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics or equivalent.
  • 4 -7 years of experience designing complex electrical circuits.
  • Expert with Schematic Capture Tools, PCB Design, Spice simulation.
  • Experienced in design for manufacturing (DFM, DFT, etc.).
  • Experienced in UL and CE compliance requirements including EMC compliance would be advantageous.
  • English communication (verbal and written) and presentation skills.
